Who drives the yacht tender?

Answer

The yacht's crew generally operates the tender when transporting charter guests, subject to the yacht's procedures, crew qualifications and local regulations.

The captain is responsible for the yacht's overall operation and will determine who is authorised to operate the tender.

In some circumstances, guests may be permitted to operate certain small watercraft, but this depends on the equipment, jurisdiction, insurance and applicable licensing requirements.

Analysis

Tender operation is not simply a matter of whether someone knows how to drive a small boat. Commercial yacht operations are subject to rules governing who may operate particular vessels and under what circumstances.

Broker Comment

We recommend assuming that the crew will operate the tender unless the yacht confirms otherwise. If self-driving a tender or other watercraft is important to you, we can establish the requirements in advance.
