Can I bring my own food or alcohol onto a charter yacht?

Answer

Often yes, but the practical and contractual position varies by yacht, destination and charter arrangement.

Guests may sometimes bring particular wines, spirits or specialist food products, but there can be customs, import, provisioning, storage and contractual considerations. Some yachts may also have specific policies concerning outside beverages.

It is best to discuss this with your broker and the captain before arrival.

Analysis

Bringing a small number of personal or specialist items can be straightforward, but importing alcohol or food across international borders can create complications. The safest approach is to identify requirements in advance rather than arriving with undeclared products.

Broker Comment

If there is a particular wine, spirit, ingredient or children's food product you want, tell us early. In many cases the crew can source it locally, avoiding the need for you to transport it yourself.
