What is the difference between a yacht’s guest capacity and its cabin capacity?

Answer

A yacht's guest capacity refers to the maximum number of charter guests the yacht is permitted to carry under its applicable commercial certification and charter arrangements.

Its cabin capacity refers to how many guests the available cabins can physically accommodate and how those guests can be arranged.

These figures are related but are not necessarily interchangeable.

For example, a yacht might be advertised for a particular number of guests but have a cabin configuration that makes it more comfortable for a smaller group seeking private cabins.

There can also be differences between: –

Maximum permitted guests –

Number of guest cabins –

Number of beds –

Number of ensuite bathrooms –

Recommended comfortable occupancy –

Particular sleeping configurations Broker perspective

When comparing yachts, we recommend looking beyond the headline guest number. Cabin layout, privacy and the composition of your group can materially affect whether a yacht is actually suitable.
