What happens if the weather changes while we are cruising?

Answer

The captain continuously monitors weather and sea conditions and may alter the yacht's course, timing, anchorage or itinerary when conditions require it.

A change might mean departing earlier, staying longer in a sheltered location, changing an anchorage or substituting another destination.

The objective is to maintain a safe and enjoyable charter while making the best practical use of the available conditions.

Analysis

A yacht itinerary is a plan rather than an absolute guarantee. Weather, sea conditions, local restrictions and operational circumstances can all require adjustments.

This flexibility is one of the advantages of chartering a private yacht compared with a fixed cruise itinerary.

Broker Comment

We encourage clients to think of the itinerary as a framework rather than a rigid schedule. A good captain will often find an equally enjoyable alternative when the original plan is affected by weather.
