What happens if someone in my group has a food allergy?

Answer

Food allergies should be communicated to the broker and yacht crew as early as possible, ideally before the charter preference sheet is finalised.

The chef can then assess the requirements, plan suitable menus and source appropriate ingredients where possible.

The severity and nature of the allergy should be clearly communicated rather than simply describing it as a preference.

Analysis

Food allergies are different from dietary preferences. The crew needs accurate information to understand the level of care required.

For serious allergies, guests should discuss the issue in detail with the broker and crew before travel and ensure that any necessary medication or emergency treatment is brought with them.

Broker Comment

Please tell us about allergies early and be precise about their severity. We would much rather have detailed information several weeks before the charter than discover a serious allergy when guests walk onboard.
