Is it better to charter during high season or shoulder season?

Answer

High and shoulder seasons offer different characteristics rather than one being universally preferable.

High season may provide warmer conditions, more reliable weather and the fullest range of open restaurants and attractions, depending on the destination. It can also coincide with greater demand and higher charter rates.

Shoulder season may offer a quieter atmosphere and potentially different pricing, while weather and availability of particular services can be less predictable.

Analysis

The trade-off depends heavily on destination. A shoulder season that works very well in one cruising area may not offer the same conditions elsewhere.

Broker’s advice

If your dates are flexible, we can compare the same yacht and itinerary across different periods. Sometimes moving by just a few weeks materially changes the character of the holiday.
