Do I have to stay in a marina every night during a yacht charter?

Answer

No. Depending on the destination, yacht and weather, a charter can include a combination of marina stays, anchorages and moorings. Many charterers prefer a mixture: marinas provide convenient access to towns, restaurants and shore facilities, while anchorages offer privacy and a more natural setting.

Analysis

The balance varies significantly between destinations. Some cruising grounds have excellent sheltered anchorages and relatively few reasons to enter a marina, while others are better experienced by using ports and organised moorings.

Broker comment

Tell your broker what matters to you: nightlife and restaurants, privacy, swimming, convenience, or a mixture. The answer will influence the itinerary and potentially the yacht itself.
