Is it better to book a yacht charter early or at the last minute?

Answer

The appropriate booking time depends on the destination, season, yacht, dates and flexibility of the charterer.

Booking earlier generally provides access to a broader selection of yachts and dates, which can be particularly important for peak-season travel, large groups and specific yacht requirements.

Last-minute bookings can sometimes create opportunities where yachts have remaining availability, but they can also substantially reduce choice.

Analysis

There is no universal advantage to waiting. A flexible client may find an attractive late availability, while a client seeking a particular yacht, destination and date may benefit from securing the booking well in advance.

Broker Comment

We usually distinguish between “finding a good deal” and “finding the right yacht.” Waiting can sometimes produce an opportunity, but it can also mean that the yacht that best fits your group is no longer available.
