How important is the crew when choosing a charter yacht?

Answer

The crew can be one of the most influential elements of a yacht charter. Their experience, hospitality, communication, local knowledge and ability to anticipate guests’ needs can substantially affect the experience.

Crew size and structure also matter. A yacht with a larger crew may offer a different level or style of service from a yacht with fewer crew members.

Analysis

Crew quality is difficult to reduce to a single specification. Experience, teamwork, personality and compatibility with the guests can all matter.

This is particularly relevant when comparing yachts that are otherwise similar in size and price.

Broker’s advice

We try to understand the kind of service you want rather than simply telling you that a yacht has a certain number of crew. Some clients want highly formal service; others want a relaxed, family-style atmosphere. The right crew depends on the guests.
