Does a larger yacht always have more crew?

Answer

Not necessarily. Crew numbers depend on the yacht’s operating requirements, guest capacity, design, regulations, service model and management arrangements.

Larger yachts commonly have larger crews, but yacht size alone does not provide a complete picture of how the crew is structured.

The relevant question is whether the crew is appropriately sized and experienced for that particular yacht and charter.

Analysis

Crew-to-guest ratios and role allocation can provide useful context, but they should not be treated as a simple quality score.

The service experience also depends on crew capability, organisation and how the team interacts with guests.

Broker’s advice

Rather than asking simply whether a yacht has “lots of crew”, we look at what the crew actually does and how the team is structured. That’s much more useful when comparing yachts.
