Can a yacht charter accommodate food allergies and dietary requirements?

Answer

Many professionally crewed charter yachts can accommodate a wide range of dietary requirements and food allergies, provided the crew is informed sufficiently in advance.

The preference sheet should identify allergies, intolerances, religious or ethical dietary requirements and any other relevant restrictions. Serious allergies should be communicated clearly to both the broker and captain before the charter.

Analysis

Dietary requirements are different from food preferences. A medically significant allergy needs to be treated as a safety issue, with appropriate communication and food-handling procedures.

Broker comment

For a serious allergy, tell us at the very beginning of the booking process rather than waiting for the preference sheet. We can make sure the yacht and chef are suitable before you commit.
