How does anchoring work on a yacht charter?

Answer

Anchoring allows the yacht to remain in a suitable location without being tied to a marina or quay.

The captain selects an appropriate anchorage based on factors such as depth, seabed, weather, wind, swell, local restrictions and proximity to the intended activity or shore.

Once anchored, guests may use the yacht’s facilities, swim, enjoy water toys or go ashore by tender where appropriate.

Analysis

Anchoring is central to many yacht-charter experiences because it allows guests to spend time in secluded bays and locations that are inaccessible to conventional accommodation.

The captain continually considers changing conditions and may relocate the yacht if necessary.

Broker’s advice

Some of the best charter moments happen at anchor rather than in a marina. When planning your itinerary, we can identify the bays and anchorages that fit the experience you want while leaving the captain flexibility to choose the safest practical position.
