What should I tell my charter broker before they start searching?

Answer

The more clearly you explain your priorities, the more useful the search will be.

Important information includes travel dates, destination preferences, guest numbers and ages, cabin requirements, approximate budget, preferred yacht type, cruising style, food preferences, activities, water toys, special occasions and any accessibility or medical considerations that affect the practical requirements of the charter.

You do not need to know the yacht specifications yourself.

Analysis

Clients sometimes focus too heavily on giving the broker a yacht size or budget before explaining what they actually want to experience.

The broker can translate the experience into yacht specifications.

Broker’s advice

Start with the holiday, not the yacht. “Eight friends who want great food, secluded beaches and nightlife” tells us much more than “find me a 40-metre yacht.”
