Can I charter a yacht for just a few days?

Answer

A yacht charter does not always need to be a full week. Three- to five-night charters can work particularly well for guests who have limited time, are combining a yacht charter with a land-based holiday, or want to experience a destination without committing to a full week.

Minimum-stay requirements are often more flexible outside peak periods. During high season, some yachts may require a minimum of seven nights or may apply a premium to shorter charters.

The best approach is to tell your broker your available dates, preferred destination and number of nights, rather than assuming a particular minimum applies.

Key considerations

Minimum charter period

Embarkation and disembarkation locations

Delivery/redelivery fees

Seasonal pricing

Whether the yacht’s itinerary works efficiently within the shorter period

Positioning time between charters

Broker’s advice

For a short charter, destination selection becomes particularly important. A yacht that is already positioned close to your intended cruising area can often produce a much better experience than one requiring significant repositioning.
