How do I assess a yacht crew before booking?

Answer

Useful information can include the captain’s experience, crew composition, qualifications, previous charter experience, languages, culinary capabilities, water-sports expertise and relevant guest-service experience.

Client feedback and broker knowledge can also provide useful context, although crew compositions can change between seasons.

The current crew should therefore be confirmed as part of the booking process.

Analysis

Crew assessment requires a balance between documented information and current operational knowledge.

A yacht’s historical reputation does not necessarily mean that exactly the same crew will operate it during your charter.

Broker’s advice

We look beyond a crew list. We want to understand who is actually operating the yacht, what their experience is and whether their service style fits your group.
