Where can a charter yacht anchor?

Answer

A yacht can anchor in locations where anchoring is permitted and where the depth, seabed, weather, traffic and other conditions make it appropriate.

Some destinations offer extensive sheltered bays and secluded anchorages, while others have stricter anchoring regulations or limited suitable locations.

The captain will select the actual anchorage based on the prevailing circumstances.

Analysis

The ability to anchor in a beautiful location is one of the defining advantages of yacht charter, but access is not unlimited. Environmental protection, marine parks, mooring systems and local regulations can all affect where a yacht can anchor.

Broker’s advice

When clients tell us they want secluded bays and quiet nights at anchor, we can incorporate that into the yacht and destination selection from the beginning. The captain will then make the final decision based on the conditions at the time.
