How much cruising should I plan during a yacht charter?

Answer

The amount of cruising should reflect the type of holiday you want.

Some guests want to cover significant distances and visit several destinations. Others prefer to remain in a smaller area, spending more time swimming, relaxing, dining and enjoying the yacht.

Longer cruising days can allow you to see more, but they also mean more time underway and potentially higher fuel expenditure.

Options / charter styles

Relaxed and yacht-focused –

Island hopping –

Destination intensive –

Watersports focused –

Diving and exploration –

Restaurant and beach focused –

Long-distance cruising

Analysis

The ideal itinerary is not necessarily the one that visits the greatest number of places. Travel time should be weighed against the experiences you actually want from the charter.

Broker Comment

We often ask clients whether they want the yacht to be the destination or the yacht to be the way of getting between destinations. That simple distinction can completely change which yacht and itinerary we recommend.
