Should I arrive at the destination the day before my yacht charter?

Answer

Arriving the day before can provide useful protection against flight delays, missed connections and travel disruption, particularly when the yacht is departing at a fixed time or the destination requires a complicated journey.

It also allows guests to begin the charter rested rather than immediately transferring from a long-haul flight to the yacht.

Whether an overnight stay is worthwhile depends on the destination, flight schedule and embarkation arrangements.

Analysis

For a high-value holiday, the cost of an additional hotel night can be relatively small compared with the consequences of missing part of the charter because of a travel disruption.

This is particularly relevant when travelling internationally or connecting through multiple airports.

Broker’s advice

For many clients, we recommend thinking of the arrival day as part of the holiday rather than trying to land and board immediately. The right answer depends on the destination and your flights, but a little buffer can remove a lot of stress.
