Can a large yacht enter small ports and marinas?

Answer

Not always. Marina and port access can be limited by berth length, beam, draft, manoeuvring space, local regulations and infrastructure.

A large yacht may therefore need to remain at anchor while guests use the tender to reach a smaller port.

The captain and broker can assess access when planning the itinerary.

Analysis

The ability to access a marina is not necessarily a measure of the yacht’s quality. It is a question of matching the vessel to the destination.

Broker’s advice

If walking straight from the yacht into a particular harbour town is important to you, tell us. We’ll check whether the yacht can realistically berth there rather than assuming that every yacht can.
