What happens during yacht embarkation?

Answer

Embarkation is the transition from arriving at the port or marina to becoming guests onboard the yacht.

The crew will normally welcome you aboard, assist with luggage, introduce themselves and show you the principal areas of the yacht. The captain or another crew member will also provide the required safety information and explain practical matters relevant to the vessel.

Depending on the yacht and destination, customs, immigration or port formalities may also need to be completed.

Once everyone is settled, the captain will normally discuss the initial itinerary and departure arrangements.

Analysis

The exact embarkation process varies between yachts and destinations. A well-organised arrival should feel straightforward, but guests should allow sufficient time for formalities and the required safety briefing.

Broker Comment

We normally make the embarkation arrangements very clear before you travel—where to meet the yacht, who will meet you, what time to arrive and what documents may be required. That removes much of the uncertainty from the first day.
