How many crew members does a charter yacht have?

Answer

Crew numbers vary according to the yacht’s size, design, operating requirements and level of service.

Larger yachts generally require larger crews because there are more guest areas, technical systems and operational responsibilities to manage. Smaller yachts may operate with a more compact team.

The number of crew members does not by itself determine the quality of service.

Analysis

Crew-to-guest ratio can provide useful context, but the actual roles and experience of the crew are equally important.

For example, a yacht might have specialist chefs, deck crew, engineers, stewards and watersports personnel, while another may combine several responsibilities within a smaller team.

Broker’s advice

We look at both numbers and roles. A client who loves watersports may care about the yacht’s watersports expertise, while a family with young children may place greater importance on childcare experience and a chef who is comfortable with family preferences.
