What is the minimum number of nights for a yacht charter?

Answer

The traditional yacht charter period is seven nights, but yachts can sometimes be chartered for fewer nights. A yacht's owner, management company or charter broker may impose a minimum charter period, particularly during busy periods.

For shorter charters, the rate is not necessarily calculated simply as the weekly rate divided by seven. A yacht may apply a short-charter premium or have additional delivery and operational costs.

Analysis

The practical minimum is therefore determined by the individual yacht, the dates and the destination rather than by an industry-wide rule.

Broker comment

If you only have three or four nights available, tell your broker. It is usually more productive to search specifically for yachts and destinations that work well for that duration than to assume a seven-night charter is required.
