Damen Shipyards was established in 1927 in Hardinxveld-Giessendam in the western Netherlands by brothers Jan and Marinus Damen. In 1969 Jan's son Kommer Damen took over the company and expanded the company to produce standardised workboats in a series. 

 

Since this date the shipyard has produced more than 5,000 vessels and annually delivers up to 150 vessels for naval defence and security, cargo and dredging vessels, offshore oil and gas, port and terminal, fishing, public transport and luxury yachting industries. As one of the world's largest and most financially stable shipbuilders, Damen Shipyard Group has an annual turnover of €2 billion.

 

 

In 1991 Amels, the largest luxury yacht builder in the Netherlands, joined Damen Shipyard Group with a focus on high quality innovative yacht concepts. Today the shipyard offers full-custom yachts, refits and three distinct lines: Limited Editions luxury yachts, SeaXplorer expedition yachts and Support Yachts.
