Christensen Yachts

Christensen shipyard is located in the beautiful North-western U.S., in Vancouver, Washington. Christensen Yachts makes luxury motor yachts and consists of over 180,000 square feet of climate controlled manufacturing space and a seven-acre marina. Christensen Yacht’s state-of-the-art facility at shipyard adheres to high manufacturing standards in building superyachts of unyielding quality and beauty.  There are 12 large manufacturing and assembly bays, one of which housing expandable mould for superyacht hulls from 100 to 165 feet, which is the heart of the facility.

One of the forerunners in making composite fibreglass yachts, Dave Christensen backed into yacht building when he commissioned a custom yacht for self-use, which eventually became a hit with customers clamouring for it. In the mid-1980s, he opened his own yacht building factory on the Columbia River to build a line of megayachts. The Christensen fleet ranges from 115 feet to 155 feet in length and is built in compliance with the American Bureau of Shipping and the U.K. Maritime and Coastguard Agency classification standards. The facilities at Christensen Shipyards can hold a number of superyachts at one time, up to 170 feet in size in the midst of the building process. Christensen hull moulds also allow for a wide variety of options during construction. Their yachts are built utilizing a sandwich composite method. For example, the hulls are Double-Cored cell, while the superstructure is comprised of Divinycell-core; the result – a very strong composite yacht.

One bay is fully enclosed to create a clean, controlled environment to paint yacht exteriors. The location of the electrical department, metal shop, wood and metal paint shops, cabinet shop and upholstery department make it convenient to transport parts to the yachts under construction. The gated and enclosed seven-acre marina is a secure area for in-water work and yacht deliveries, and can accommodate up to seven Christensen yachts up to 350 tons. The new bay features an 80’ ceiling that allows to complete the yachts indoors before moving them to the water. This new expansion includes water heated floors, a new warehouse and a loft area for additional part fabrication.

The Christensen Custom Series are crafted with the same quality and attention to detail that Christensen has become famous for in MegaYachts: perfection. Designed with an efficient and effective layout each Custom Series yacht is advanced in its construction time and is usually available for delivery in a shorter period of time. The THOMAS SPIRIT is the perfect example of why Christensen’s around the world enjoy the title as one of the world’s most prestigious and finest built yachts. This magnificent yacht is the 2004 YachtBroker’s “Mega Yacht of the Year" award winner. This prestigious award is bestowed on only one yacht throughout the year. Another yacht - M/Y Odessa, the outstanding black and silver was launched in the year 2009 with a length of 48.77 meters. The superyacht was honoured with the World Superyacht Awards 2010 finalist for Best Displacement Motor yacht below 500GT.
