Phuket Yacht Charter

View luxury motor yachts and sailing yachts available to charter in Phuket here

The luxury yachting destination Phuket is located in Southern Thailand, on the west-facing Andaman Sea coastline. Phuket is Thailand's largest island at 48km in length and 21 km at its widest. Phuket is perhaps Thailand’s most well-known yachting destination with several famous beaches and diving destinations within easy cruising distance, not to mention spectacular scenery, stunning tropical sunsets and a warm blue sea that awaits you.  More and more motor yachts, sailing yachts, luxury yachts and superyachts are offering Phuket yacht charters year round, with even more visiting on a seasonal basis.

The waters surrounding Phuket offer ideal sailing conditions for charter yachts all year round. The peak charter season is from November to April with winds from the NE offering champagne sailing conditions and during the green season from May to October the winds prevail from the SW and it is more humid, often with rain. Within easy cruising distance of Phuket are the exciting charter destinations of Phang Nga Bay, the Southern Islands, Krabi, Phi Phi and Similans. Whether its world class diving in the Andaman Sea, golf at world-standard championship course or exciting eco-adventures in tropical forests, Phuket is a luxury yacht charter destination that offers it all.

Phuket is suspended from the southern tip of Phang Nga Province by a pair of short but substantial road bridges. There is also an airport in Phuket which is often the preferred choice of transport to the island by yacht charterers.

Recommended Excursions on Phuket Island while on your luxury yacht charter include Patong Beach, Paradise Reef and Shark Point. Patong Beach is almost 2 miles of beautiful white sand set in a deep oval bay, ringed by lush green mountains. Behind the new beach promenade, the coast line is lined with hotels, ranging from simple guesthouses to luxury international resorts, restaurants and shops. Paradise Reef is located on the south side of Patong Beach, Paradise Reef lies just off an intimate and sheltered beach perfect for beginner divers or snorkelers. The modest reef is populated with hard corals and slopes from 5m down to 14m.

Shark Point has been an official marine sanctuary since 1992, and is made up of 3 large rock pinnacles, the largest of which breaks the surface. These rocks are abundant with coral and fish making diving here a spectacular experience. Leopard Sharks are resident and can be seen by day sleeping on the sandy bottom. Lionfish and scorpionfish are all over the reef plus many different types of pufferfish, including yellow boxfish, blue-ringed angelfish and emperor angelfish.

Phang Nga Bay, Thailand

Phang Nga Bay

Phang Nga Bay is a marine national park and an area of beautiful unspoilt scenery. Explore the towering limestone islands of Ko Phanak and Koh Hong with their many caves and “Hongs”. From your charter yacht, take the tender or a long tail boat to the world famous James Bond Island or further to Koh Panyi, a fishing village built on stilts. Today this is one of the main attractions in the area, often serving as a lunch stop with a number of seafood restaurants as well as various stalls selling souvenirs.

Krabi

The main beach at Krabi is Ao Nang which is reasonably well developed and has access to Krabi town by local transport. The beaches and scenery in the area are fantastic, with excellent snorkelling and diving.

Diving from Ao Nang is plentiful and contains many species of corals, gorgonian seafans, shrimps and crabs in the shalow sites and large schools of barracuda, groups of squid, and leopard sharks often found resting in the sand a little deeper parts. This area consists of a group of 7 main islands, Koh Poda, Koh Ha, Koh Si, Koh Yawabon, Koh Dor, Koh Talu, G.K. Island and Koh Yawasam. Marine life when diving in Krabi is diverse with over 200 species of fish and 80 species of coral.

Ko Phi Phi

Koh Phi Phi in Thailand.Ko Phi Phi’s main island is Koh Phi Phi Don, where dry goods and beverages can be bought and small shops sell fruit and vegetables. There are dive trips, big game fishing trips, internet cafes, masseurs, restaurants and bars. A visit to Koh Phi Phi Lee, where the filming of ‘The Beach’ was held, is magical, a scenic sandy lagoon surrounded by limestone cliffs. This is a must see while enjoying your Phuket yacht charter.

Koh Lanta - Often described as Phuket 20 years ago, the pace of life on Lanta is relaxed and easy going. There are two good beaches along the West coast and good shelter in some pretty anchorages on the East coast.. The islands to the South have great snorkeling and the “Emerald cave” on Ko Muk is a must see.

Hin Daeng has been hailed as one of the best dive sites in Thailand with a large rocky outcrop forming a series of walls and ledges below the surface that are covered in soft red corals. Due to the location of Hin Daeng and Hin Muang they form the only reef feeding ground for a lot of surrounding ocean, attracting bigger species of sea life such as grey reef sharks, whale sharks and mantas. Smaller fish including clown and redtooth triggers, powder blue surgeonfish and some big morays may also be seen.

Ko Racha Yai and Racha Noi

About 20kms south of Phuket, the Racha Islands are two islands, Koh Racha Yai and Koh Racha Noi, also known as Koh Raya Yai and Koh Raya Noi, Yai meaning big and noi meaning small. These islands offer more good snorkeling and diving as well as the relaxed pace of tropical island life. Koh Racha Noi offers some good dive spots, there are two submerged pinnacles on each end of the island that are abundant with marine life. The southern pinnacle has underwater boulders and scenery similar to that seen in the Similans, big schools of hunting jacks and barracuda are common and sometimes the manta ray. There are also a few shallower spots around the island for the beginner diver. At Koh Racha Yai, there are several interesting places to dive such as Lucy's Reef where you may come across stonefish and catfish and Marla's Mystery, a wreck that is now home to morays, groupers and lionfish.

The Similan and Surin Islands

The Similan and Surin Islands are a group of islands located 55 miles NW of Phuket, Thailand. This luxury yacht charter destination is known as one of the world's top dive destinations.

The Similan Islands Group are an archipelago of nine islands, and only a few miles north is Surin, a beautiful group of islands, made up of five islets. Asia’s Similan and Surin Islands offer beautiful landscapes both above and below the water with pure white sandy beaches and tropical bush, balanced by and untouched tropical ecosystem teaming with life below the crystal blue surface.

Below is a small selection of superyachts available to charter in Asia's luxury yachting destination Phuket. A full list is available here, or contact a CharterWorld team member for information on visiting yachts.

Phuket Yacht Charter Enquiry

Hi Amanda, Happy New Year!! Our holiday was wonderful! Allen and everyone on Hye Seas was fantastic....we definitely got spoiled. The diving was good not the best we have had but the islands were lovely and weather great as well. I think Hye Seas is a great size boat for 2 couples, very comfortable and gets around pretty quick too. Allen was so much fun and the crew really fulfilled everything we asked for on preference sheet. Allen was also very open to any changes we wanted to make or the weather dictated. I would recommend the whole package to anyone and feel very confident they would not be disappointed. You were also so great to work with as I looked backed on our e mails, we really put this great trip together in a flash! I hope we can work together in the future. Thank you again and I hope next year is a smooth sailing year for all!! Let's keep in touch. SR. Chartered HYE SEAS in Jan, Phuket, Thailand.
