Lee Marine New Agents for Cantiere delle Marche Megayachts in China, South-East Asia and Australia

March 22, 2012

Phuket’s Lee Marine has today announced it has been appointed the exclusive agent in China, South-East Asia and Australia for prestigious Italian ship builder Cantiere delle Marche [CdM], maker of customized, steel hulled expedition “niche” megayachts.

Cantiere delle Marche’s Sales and Marketing Director Vasco Buonpensiere, left, and Lee Marine’s Managing Director Josh Lee shake hands in Phuket on the new relationship.

Cantiere delle Marche’s Sales and Marketing Director Vasco Buonpensiere, left, and Lee Marine’s Managing Director Josh Lee shake hands in Phuket on the new relationship.

Lee Marine will be agents for the new concept Darwin and Nauta Air motor yacht range of ocean going, long range vessels capable of remaining at sea for months at a time and with ranges up to 7000nm. The Darwin and Nauta Air yachts are considered “niche within a niche” boats as they combine the luxury specifications of a superyacht with the size of a steel hulled mini-ship designed for long range use, in this case at an average speed of 10 knots. The agency is for three years.

Vasco Buonpensiere, CdM Sales and Marketing Director, said of the new partnership: “Lee Marine has a specific dealers DNA which means they share 100 percent of the mission, vision and values of the brand they represent, with no exception.”

Cantiere delle Marche’s flagship Darwin megayacht.

Mr Buonpensiere said the CdM yachts should have great success in Asia/Pacific with their long range capacities, incredible seaworthiness and stability, solid build and specifications normally seen on superyachts, huge enclosed spaces and “impeccable” Italian design and engineering.

Lee Marine Managing Director, Josh Lee commented: “Lee Marine shares the vision and philosophy of CdM regarding customer focused attention and absolute quality in terms of design and construction. We believe the Darwin and Nauta Air ranges will appeal to those looking to cruise Asia/Pacific wide, or beyond. Anywhere!”

CdM was only formed in 2010 but is long on experience, the result of a partnership between Mr Buonpensiere, with an extensive background both in European luxury boat brokerage and as Brand manager of Custom Line and CRN brands of Ferretti group; and CEO, Ennio Cecchini from a famous, decades old, large shipbuilding family in Italy. Together, 130 years’ experience. CdM is located in Ancona, Italy.

The Sergio Cutolo [Hydro Tec] designed Darwin Class [named in the context of Charles Darwin: a “new marine species”] comes in 86, 95, 105 and 115-foot models and the Mario Pedol [Nauta yachts] designed Nauta Air 80, 96 and 115-feet.

The “air” in Nauta Air represents the excessive space available on the yachts, whose tugboat like, wider steel hulled beam appearance gives the yacht extraordinary strength while the interior features classic Italian styling customized to the owner’s taste. The aluminium superstructure still gives the Darwin and Nauta Air the look of a superyacht, but the difference that it is robust enough to stay at sea, fully provisioned, for months if necessary, cruising at a steady 10 knots powered by Heavy Duty rated Caterpillar or MTU engines which reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

Asia/Pacific, in this regard, is ideal for such boats, six of which have been sold in Europe and South America. They could, for example, travel from Hong Kong to Sydney, to more isolated places like the Maldives and Seychelles in the Indian Ocean or cruise within Asia in countries like Indonesia, Malaysia and Japan without having to dock for maintenance or provisions. Lee Marine considers them ideal for the Australian environment with its long coastline and big seas, which the boats are designed to handle with ease.

Mr Lee noted: “This is a yacht for an experienced owner. Someone who has already owned a yacht over 100 feet who realises that speed is not everything. What they really need is comfort, stability and space. These boats will last forever. We see them as better value in the long term.”

Mr Buonpensiere added: “There is no doubt Asia/Pacific is going to grow at a much faster pace than the saturated and heavily hit “Western” market [the US and Europe]. We strongly believe that that the yachting culture and lifestyle in Asia/Pacific will grow and with it more and more people will have a desire to experience CdM type yachts.”

CdM has already signed dealership agreements with Worth Avenue Yachts for North and South American markets, Denturyat for the Turkish market, and with Lee Marine for the Australia, Asia Pacific and China area.

“We found in the selected International dealers the exclusivity and reliability values which are our key points for the evaluation of a new dealer all around the world. ” – comments Vasco Buonpensiere, Sales & Marketing director of Cantiere delle Marche. “I’m sure they would represent a new sales consolidation of the brands Darwin Class and Nauta Air in their markets, which have always recognized the top quality and innovative contents of our products”.

Adds Buonpensiere: “We think that the secret of this kind of dealership relations is the constant information exchanges: that’s why we rely on our exclusive representatives to collect as many indications we can from their markets in order to adapt our products to the customers’ needs in the different areas”. “The flexible structure of Cantiere delle Marche, from the design to the construction, will allow the clients to develop, together with their dealers, customized and tailor-made solutions to live the sea at its best”.

Designer himself about Nauta Air 115′

“The main intent when drawing the Nauta Air 115’ was to envision the yacht as a whole, in the context of its global use. A new and original concept that began with the reconsideration of the priorities of living life at sea. This brought us to consider a new ratio of proportions, a new balance point between interior and exterior spaces and a new conception of their livability: as a single element and as a continuous space, especially in the main and upper decks. The Nauta Air 115’ is a displacement motor yacht with large, livable volumes.”

The vision of the yacht as a whole, open to its surroundings with free-flowing spaces is best expressed in the full beam stateroom on the main deck: 36 m2 of space with 270° views, all the comforts of a luxurious home, plus direct access onto a 20 m2 private deck at the bow. This vision is repeated in the living area on the same deck where the space flows freely from 54 m2 of indoor living space to 43 m2 of outdoor lounge space.

Even when the doors are shut the spaces are still in direct visual contact thanks to a wide use of clear glass in both windows and doors. The upper deck, on top of the pilothouse and captain’s cabin that opens directly onto it, also has an informal living room that opens directly onto a deck dining area where, on top of a table that seats ten, there is also abundant free space for exercising or even dancing. This deck is served by a dumbwaiter and has a functional day head.

The sun deck is a wonderful open air sky lounge for elegant but informal outdoor living. There are spaces for dining and cocktails as well as reading, relaxing and sunbathing. The sun deck is also served by a dumbwaiter and has a pantry, sink, undercounter refrigerator and barbeque.

The Nauta Air 115’ proves that a yacht doesn’t have to be a barrier between nature and the people on board. Quite the opposite: a yacht should offer a myriad of ways to enjoy the outdoors- even from the indoors.

Cantiere delle Marche signs contract for the Darwin Class explorer yacht Darwin 95′ by Hydro Tec

September 27, 2011

The recently established Italian luxury yacht builder Cantiere Delle Marche is proud to announce its Darwin Class yacht range’s success. After building three Darwin 86′ yachts, the yard has signed a contract to build the fourth Darwin superyacht – the 95′ Darwin Class motor yacht – after only 11 months from the company’s birth.

Darwin 95 superyacht designed by Hydro Tec

Darwin 95 superyacht designed by Hydro Tec

Vasco Buonpensiere, sales and marketing director, comments:”We are incredibly satisfied  and proud of the redemption we had after the important showcase in Cannes. The  number and the quality of the contacts that came from the boat show are amazing and the  overall appreciation for the construction’s features of the Darwin Class confirmed our  belief that the yacht market is now looking for quality, contents, design and attention for  the details, in order to answer to this evolution of the ship owner’s needs. The new  nautical year has opened in the best way for Cantiere delle Marche: after less than a year  from our birth, we debut with the first Darwin Class in one of the most important boat show of the international market. More, we have already signed four contracts, in  particular the most recent, for the sale of a 95’ Darwin Class yacht”.

Darwin Class 95’yacht , designed by Hydro Tec Srl (Sergio Cutolo), maintains the Darwin family  feeling,  but it differentiates from the  86’ for many features: the interiors  – each room is  10sqm bigger -,  the crew accomodations (5 people), two Caterpillar engines C18 that give  13,5 knots speed without noise and the minimum levels of consumption. The sky lounge,  opened on the wheelhouse, is designed to satisfy the ship-owner request of steering his yacht and, at the same time, enjoying the company of his guests. The interiors will be contemporary, linear and very luminous, with a total white lower deck enriched by details in essence. The interior designers are Pierluigi Floris and Marco Veglia.

As the interiors, also the exteriors  gain in volumes  in order to enjoy the very best sensations every minute of the life aboard: all the bridges are noticeably longer and the sundeck has become about 50sqm, from 40sqm on the Darwin 86.

The new Darwin 95′ expedition yacht totally matches with the Darwin Class’ technical features as far as for the  extra-thick steel plates, the Cupro Nickel piping, the remote controlled valves, the automatic parallel device for gensets’ management, etc.

Every details in the engine room has been designed and constructed following the criteria that are usually used on high quality vessels exceeding 40 metres. The treatment systems for bilge, black and grey water are plants used also on commercial ships and could work H24.As for the 86’, the 95’ we have two rudders that could be controlled also independently to offer an incredible maneuverability in every sea condition.

This system has been tested time after time by the captain of the Darwin Class 86’ motor yacht “Vitadimare 3”, during more than 3000 miles of navigation from the day of delivery.

“The fourth closed contract and the two letters of interests we have just signed for the next years demonstrate once again that our yachts fit with the current yacht market’s needs” – comments Vasco Buonpensiere. And he adds: ”Ever since its recent foundation, Cantiere delle Marche has set out to distinguish itself in terms of the contents of its vessels, focussing on top-flight quality and unique design. Each ship, produced in only a limited number of units, guarantees sturdy, seaworthy performance, combined with low fuel consumption and the stunning volumes of the interiors”.

Cantiere delle Marche launch innovative website and the new Darwin Class Yacht series “The Evolution of Species”

September 05, 2011

On the opening eve of the acclaimed Festival de la Plaisance in Cannes , the Italian shipbuilder Cantiere delle Marche announces the launch of their new and innovative website, which can be viewed online as of today.

The operation comes in conjunction with the debut of the Cantiere delle Marche shipyard in Cannes. A beginning that sees the first model of its new yacht line Darwin Class as a protagonist: a type of vessels that heralds an advance in the evolution of a species, namely the yacht, which, although it modifies its form, keeps its DNA unchanged, maintaining all the chromosomes that allow it to satisfy its owner’s seagoing yearnings in waters anywhere in the world.

A species as yet unknown: that is how Charles Darwin would have described it, had he found himself face to face with a brand-new species just waiting to be discovered and studied. The evolution of the species is the fil rouge that we find also in the different sections of Cantiere Delle Marche website.

A simple and intuitive navigation that allows the users to appreciate the different features of every single yacht, through technical charts and full screen photographic galleries, both for the exterior and the interior design. More, the users can deeply explore the yachts through a 3D interactive model, to discover all the plus and the specific excellences and qualities of every single line.  Further the technical aspects, the website gives great relevance to all the people that make Cantiere delle Marche a reliable and successful shipyard.

In the “Diary” section, they give their’s accounts, stories and experiences of someone that gave, and still gives, an essential contribution to the realisation of every project: engineers, architects, workers, the real surplus value of Cantiere delle Marche. With their experiences, they let the users “breathe” the shipyard and understand how much this is different from the industrialized and automated computerized realities: not only about the processes, but also and above all in the relationship between who plans, projects and realizes the Yachts and the same Yachts, with all the consequences for the final owner.

In the new site, the barrier “shipyard/factory – site/window” is finally broken, and it is possible to compare our own requirements with who genuinely loves the boats that realizes, the sea and the navigation. In fact, it’s not certainly usual reading direct stories by shipowners and commanders on the competitors websites: but, as Charles Darwin could say, this shipyard and the Darwin Class yachts surely belong to a never seen species.

The new 86 Darwin Class yacht “Vitadimare 3” to debut in Cannes and Genoa this year

August 29, 2011

Vasco Buonpensiere, Cantiere delle Marche sales and marketing director, comments:”We are incredibly satisfied and proud of the positive answers we are getting from the market: after only 11 months from our birth, we confirm our presence to the most important events of the year, first of all Cannes and Genova. I believe that our vessels, represented this year in Cannes for the first time by our 86 Darwin Class yacht “Vitadimare 3”, mark an important turning point in the world of shipbuilding. Motor Yacht “Vitadimare 3” has its mission in its name: a centric vision of the sea both for the shipyard and for the owner, who wants to live the sea in its genuine and natural aspect. “Vitadimare 3” superyacht is the first model of Darwin Class portfolio, that includes a wide rage of vessels of different sizes – 75, 86, 95 and 105 feet – all falling within the Darwin Class, designed and planned by Sergio Cutolo’s Hydro Tec srl.

CANTIERE DELLE MARCHE – COMPANY PROFILE

The groundwork of solid values that sets apart the Cantiere delle Marche shipyard is provided by the expert group of firms and professionals brought together by the Cecchini family, renowned throughout the years in the shipbuilding industry for having constructed high-technology commercial ships and carried out challenging refitting projects, including the mega-yachts Lady Haya (67 metres) and Prometej (45 metres), plus more recent efforts involving highly refined Explorer vessels.

Working alongside the Cecchini family in the company’s top management is Massimo Virgili, the Ancona entrepreneur who owns the shipyard previously utilised by the Ferretti Group and built only three years ago for the specific purpose of turning out large-size yachts.

Ennio Cecchini, the Managing Director of the Cantiere delle Marche shipyard, has also chosen Vasco Buonpensiere as the Director of Sales & Marketing on his management team, on the strength of the executive’s lengthy experience as an international broker, plus 6 years service as Marketing Director and Brand Manager for Custom Line and CRN of the Ferretti Group.

The Cantiere delle Marche shipyard draws on the skills of acclaimed professionals in the field of design, such as Sergio Cutolo and Mario Pedol of Nauta Design, as well as on the planning and engineering advances developed by the renowned firm Hydro Tec, together with important internal know-how, all in collaboration with a network of highly successful firms that belong to its corporate group, such as CPN, for steel carpentry, piping and the engine assemblies, as well as GS Allestimenti Navali for interior design, a firm that, working hand in hand with the shipyard’s staff, has built dozens of ships and yachts admired throughout the world.

The Darwin 86 ft explorer yacht by Sergio Cutolo and Cantiere delle Marche is launched

May 11, 2011

It was launched in Ancona (Eastern Italy) last Saturday, May 7, 2011, the Darwin 86′, 26 meters Explorer vessel in steel and aluminum in construction at the Cantiere delle Marche and designed by naval architect Sergio Cutolo, responsible of the Hydro Tec – Creative Naval Architect studio based in Varazze. This is the fourth launch of a yacht designed by Cutolo in only two months: before Darwin 86’ were launched Aifos, 50 meter in aluminum built by CBI Navi, Talisman C. 70 meters m/y from Proteksan Shipyard and O’Pati (former O’Rea) 39 meters fast open for Golden Yacht.

Sergio Cutolo - Darwin 86' yacht Launched

Sergio Cutolo - Darwin 86' yacht Launched

The Darwin 86’ yacht in few words
Sergio Cutolo designed the external lines and all the engineering of the just launched Darwin 86’ while architects Floris and Veglia are responsible for the interiors. This yacht designed for Cantiere delle Marche is the synthesis of different experiences over the years Sergio Cutolo has developed in the area of the small Explorer.

The hand of the designer is seen in the external lines, which, although with strong references to the proportions and style of work boats, sits in a soft but “masculine” draft where the use of sharp edges are almost abandoned. With a length of 26 meters overall and a beam of 7.43 meters the Darwin 86 has a steel hull and aluminum superstructure and is characterized by the internal volumes typical of larger boats (over 350 m2 of internal and external surfaces available for 8 guests) and a very high range (7000 miles at 10 knots). From a technical standpoint, the hull has been developed and optimized in order to ensure the achievement of high speed, relatively to the type of boat, without penalizing the performance at low speeds at which the maximum value of autonomy is realized. With two 285 kW Caterpillar engines only can reach a top speed of 11.5 knots.

The Cantiere delle Marche is currently building a second Darwin 86’ motor yacht, which will be delivered before the end of the year and there are advanced negotiations for future boats.

Fourth launch in two months
The Darwin 86′ superyacht is the fourth boat designed by Sergio Cutolo which was launched in just two months. On last February 28 was launched Aifos, the beautiful 50 meters fast all-aluminum built by CBI Navi engineered by Sergio Cutolo and designed (interiors and exteriors) by Giorgio Vafiadis. Following was launched Talisman C., spectacular 70 meters M/Y built from turkish shipyard Proteksan whose excellent performance recorded during trials derived from the accurate and precise work of Hydro Tec. A few weeks ago there was the launch of the 39 meters open yacht O’Pati (called originally O’Rea), built for Golden Yachts in Greece, which Cutolo oversaw hull lines and engineering.

To summarize: an all-aluminum fast motor yacht of 50 meters, a displacement of 70 meters in steel and aluminum, a fast 39-meter open all-aluminum and steel and aluminum explorer 86 ‘. All different projects by type and technology testimony of a technical skill and a very unusual eclecticism, making the engineering studio conducted by Cutolo one of the most active on the international market.

Cantiere delle Marche launches motor yacht VITADIMARE 3

May 11, 2011

Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche are proud to announce the launch of their first masterpiece, the Darwin Class 86-01 motoryacht VITADIMARE 3.  Superyacht Vitadimare 3 is a 26.04 metre vessel designed by Sergio Cutolo of Hydro Tec., able to accommodate 8 plus 2 guests in four cabins. Cantiere delle Marche shipyard is a new facility for the production of Italian pleasure crafts, designed to manufacture steel and aluminium displacement-model yachts with excellent naval and construction characteristics, plus trans-Atlantic or trans-Pacific range.

Yacht VITADIMARE at her launch at Cantiere Delle Marche

CEO Ennio Cecchini clapped his hands with Director S&M Vasco Buonpensiere and all the other 200 selected guests,  while the motor yacht Vitadimare 3 was slowly dropping down into the sea water. Among them other Cantiere delle Marche  shareholders, including Italian entrepreneur Massimo Virgili, Russo brothers, and the other two partner companies CPN and GS Allestimenti Navali.

Motor Yacht Vitadimare launched by Cantiere delle Marche in 2011

Cantiere delle Marche is outfitted for the production of yachts measuring from 21 metres to 40 metres, but with features unusual for ships of this size: extra-thick steel, engines designed to operate 24/7, design and construction details normally found on ships larger than 40 metres.  And Cantiere delle Marche also allows shipowners to customise their yachts, to the point of building full-fledged one-off units. With only one condition: keep a high standard of design and construction, remaining true to the shipyard’s philosophy: build small vessels that are safe to navigate and last over time.

The Cantiere delle Marche focusses on the top-flight quality and uniqueness of its ships, with each model produced in limited numbers and labelled with the name DARWIN CLASS:  category of small ships that has ushered in an Evolution of the Species (meaning Yachts) that – while modifying the design lines of the vessels – has kept the DNA unchanged, thanks to chromosomes made to navigate and satisfy shipowners in waters throughout the world.

The Vision of the Cantiere delle Marche is definitely up-to-date and farsighted: in fact, three clients have already acknowledged the shipyard’s values and the worth of its projects and ordered Darwin Class yachts. Two Darwin 86-foot vessels and one 82-foot yacht (with a hybrid propulsion system) are already under construction and will be delivered to the fortunate owners between 2011 and Spring of 2012.

Launch of the first Darwin Class 86 motoryacht Vitadimare

To sum up the spirit of the new Cantiere delle Marche in a word: bespoke. The shipyard goes out of its way to analyse every type of request from its clients, who can either have the design and construction fully managed in-house or enjoy the freedom of proposing designs developed by engineering and naval architecture firms that work directly for the client, with the end goal always being the highest possible level of client involvement and satisfaction.

As noted, the company’s mission also includes the option of commissioning an eco-compatible yacht, with one of the most noteworthy contributions being the option of hybrid Pronaves engines developed in collaboration with the Department of Electronic Engineering of the University of Rome III and designed to significantly reduce environmental impact by lowering emissions and, at the same time, achieving a quantum leap in terms of range, meaning that the more adventurous shipowners could travel round the world with only three refuelling stops.

Cantiere delle Marche shipyard Debut

December 22, 2010

Ancona, Italy recently witnessed the start of operations at the Cantiere delle Marche shipyard, a new facility for the manufacture of Italian pleasure craft, designed to turn out steel and aluminium displacement-model yachts with excellent naval and construction characteristics, plus trans-Atlantic or trans-Pacific range, all created through an approach and a vision that mark a major evolution in today’s yachting market.

In fact, the Cantiere delle Marche is outfitted for the production of yachts measuring from 21 metres to 40 metres, but with features unusual for ships of this size: extra-thick steel, engines designed to operate 24/7, design and construction details normally found on ships larger than 40 metres.  And Cantiere delle Marche also allows shipowners to customise their yachts, to the point of building full-fledged one-off units. With only one condition: keep a high standard of design and construction, remaining true to the shipyard’s philosophy: build small vessels that are safe to navigate and last over time.

The Cantiere delle Marche intends to set itself apart, taking on the challenge of facing both hard economic times and the radical return of the market in the direction of fundamental yachting values in terms of content: focussing on the top-flight quality and uniqueness of its ships, with each model produced in limited numbers and labelled with the name DARWIN CLASS:  category of small ships that has ushered in an Evolution of the Species (meaning Yachts) that – while modifying the design lines of the vessels – has kept the DNA unchanged, thanks to chromosomes made to navigate and satisfy shipowners in waters throughout the world.

Precisely to place the emphasis on the sea and the client in the shipyard’s operations, the Cantiere delle Marche has also developed new processes and systems of operation and quality control, as well as a full line of post-sale services, with the aid of northern European professionals who have been onboard since it start-up.

The Vision of the Cantiere delle Marche is definitely up-to-arte and farsighted: in fact, three clients have already acknowledged the shipyard’s values and the worth of its projects and ordered Darwin Class yachts. Two Darwin 86 ft yachts and one 82-foot vessels (with a hybrid propulsion system) are already under construction and will be delivered to the fortunate owners between 2011 and Spring of 2012.

The solidity of the values that set apart the Cantiere delle Marche is guaranteed by the expert group of forms and professionals that has been brought together by the Cecchini family, known for a good many years in the shipbuilding industry for having built hi-tech commercial ships and carried out extremely skilled refitting jobs (including the  M/Y Lady Haya (67 metres) and the motor yacht Prometej (45 metres), plus, more recently, the highly refined Explorer Vessels).

Ennio Cecchini, CEO, has built his team around Vasco Buonpensiere, the Sales & Marketing Director, who can point to years of experience as an international broker, having just finished a 6-year stint as Sales and Brand Manager for Custom Line and CRN of the Ferretti Group.

As Vasco Buonpensiere himself states: ‘We believe that the Cantiere delle Marche, with its Darwin Class yachts, is one of the few truly innovative responses that the shipbuilding industry has to offer boat-owners who are thinking of building a new yacht at the moment’. ‘Our goal is to offer top quality, durability, seaworthiness, low fuel consumption and attention to the services connected with the pre- and post-sales phases: all that seems very obvious, but the market, spoiled by excesses of recent years, ha drifted away from these fundamentals, and that holds for both the owners and a number of shipyards throughout the world’.

The Managing Director of the Cantiere delle Marche – Ennio Cecchini -  adds: ‘our objective is not to arrive at the mass production of ships, as so many have set out to do, though with varying degrees of success, but rather to heighten the efficiency of the craftsmen-like approach that has always made these vessels so special for their owners’.

In addition to Vasco Buonpensiere and the Cecchini family, Cantiere delle Marche will be able to count on a large store of in-house expertise, thanks to a network of leading forms – all part of the mother company – and in particular CPN for steel carpentry, piping and engine rooms, and GS Allestimenti Navali for furnishings:  firms that, together with the shipyard staff, have built dozens of ships admired throughout the world.

The Cantiere delle Marche operates in an ideal site for achieving its goals, a facility formerly used by Ferretti Group and built only three years ago, specifically for the construction of great yachts.
