The fabulous island of Hvar is considered the 'Queen of the Dalmatian Islands', and if this is the case then the Pakleni Islands to the south west are her royal retinue, packed with serene coves and beaches for an escape from the lively bars and clubs at Hvar town, which party long into the early hours to see sunrise.

Numerous tourists and jet-setters visit Hvar Town on a daily basis during the Mediterranean summer season, drawn not only by the vivacious nightlife but its picturesque 13th-century walls, surrounding the beautifully ornamented Gothic palaces and winding marble stone streets.

In addition, Jelsa also has a great bar and club scene, while visitors looking for a more sedate pace among the settlements will savour time spent among the cafes and galleries in Stari Grad and Vrboska, both a short cruise away.

Inland, there are vast fields of lavender, ancient olive trees and scenic hiking trails up into pine forests and along flat farmlands cultivated for generations.

The brilliant blue waters, myriad sheltered coves and beaches with a gentle incline into the sea create ideal conditions for all ages and swimming abilities. Scuba divers and free divers have a great selection of varied sites to share with curious schools of fish, octopi and crustaceans.

There are numerous outstanding charter yachts available for Hvar yacht charters, from open-style sports yachts and impressive luxury mega yachts right through to high-performance sailing yachts and superyacht. Hvar is one of the largest islands along the Dalmatian Coast and is also in an excellent position to include in a Croatia luxury yacht charter including such destinations as Venice and the Istrian Coast, or southern Dalmatian Coast treasures such as Dubrovnik.

Many superyacht charters also head on to Montenegro and Greece in a two-week long itinerary that takes in the region's rich and tumultuous history, fantastic cuisine and family-friendly beaches perfect for privacy and playing on the water toys.

Hvar Yacht Charter Experiences

Begin you luxury yacht charter with a bang at Hvar Town, the centre of the bar and club scene and the location of some of the most notable landmarks on the island: Visit the 15th-century Franciscan monastery and museum that overlooks a shady cove and wander around the gardens that feature a 300 year old cypress tree. History and art lovers will also want to visit the Vukasinovic Palace, boasting seven balconies and a magnificent entrance; or the Gargurovic Palace built in the 15th century.

The main square, Trg Svetog Stjepana, is close to the marina and is one of the oldest squares in Dalmatia. A beautiful backdrop to the square is the St Stjepan's Cathedral with a bell tower standing four levels high. It was constructed in the 16th and the 17th century, replacing the previous cathedral, which was destroyed by the Turks. The Benedictine Monastery, Bishop's Treasury,

Archaeological Museum or the 16th-century Loggia are all interwoven into Hvar's bustling streets, and heading farther up the hill, the Spanish fortress Tvrđava Fortica has panoramic views of the harbour and surrounding orange-tiled shops and houses.

The island 'Sveti Klement' is the largest of the Pakleni Islands and the numerous bays are perfect for paddle boarding and kayaking together with the family. After a wonderful morning along the shores, find your land legs again on a walk through the Palmizana Botanical Garden.

Things to Consider:

Clothing to Pack For Your Charter:

Smart-casual is the typical daytime and night-time attire away from the beachfront bars and clubs, while more glamorous attire would be suited to the concerts, galas and other lavish dinners that take place throughout the year. Longer layers should be worn to religious sites, where shoulders and thighs should be covered, and light layers ensure that guests of all ages can adjust to the wind conditions and any temperature drops after sundown. The Dalmatian Coast is not an environment that can be considered cold, however a jacket is recommended for the wetter winter months as well as for keeping off stiff evening breezes while sitting outside along the harbours and clifftops.
