A NEW HYBRID MOTORSAILER CONCEPT. Once again, Mondo Marine innovates by presenting to the international nautical market the development of an original concept by Massimo Franchini (an innovator and a leading Italian expert on motorsailers and long range cruiser yachts). The yard has taken on the challenge of offering a true ‘hybrid’: an “All-Sea Yacht” able to cruise without limits with maximum autonomy and minimal fuel consumption and environmental impact.

SM45 PROJECT AMERIGO, A CLASSIC OF TECHNOLOGY
Starting from these premises, technical choices have been made with the objectives of having the highest reliability combined with maximum fuel efficiency.
The the hull and superstructure construction are made of special naval aluminum alloys treated with the most sophisticated protection systems.
Particular care has been devoted to the study and optimization of the hull, keel with low resistance tested in towing tank, additional extensions for better stability as well as reduction of the pitch and dive.

The propulsion system includes a diesel engine of approximately 800kw that operates the adjustable pitch propeller to add thrust to the sails or, with the engine off, the propeller can be set upright to minimize the resistance.
The ketch sail plan of 850 square meters with “squared” mainsails favors simplicity in cruising and maneuvering and is not exclusively dedicated to experienced owners with oversized crew.

IMPORTANT VOLUMES CHARACTERIZE THE SM45 PROJECT AMERIGO. The bow area of the main deck is dedicated to the Owner’s quarters with a private terrace, whereas the aft area houses the spacious main salon comprising the dining as well as the relaxation area. The lower deck has four cabins, of which two VIP, and a garage with a large volume forward that could be customized as a SPA or a storage zone for nautical equipment. The upper deck offers an internal wheelhouse and a lounge with more privacy.
