Milos is known as the Island of Colours and rightly so; it has amazing rock formations and picture postcard villages perfect for a luxury yacht charter in the sunshine. There are over 75 beaches and it’s an important site for ancient Greek history too with an abundance of UNESCO World Heritage Sites to visit. Milos also has lively festivals from time to time – something for the locals and holidaymakers to enjoy together in Greece.
Created from volcanic lava, this gorgeous island is a source for rare minerals with mining as its main source of income. There are lots of great bars and restaurants around, fabulous beaches as well as secluded coves for a spot of private sunbathing.
Milos was once home to the famous statue of Aphrodite (Venus de Milo) which is now situated in the Louvre Museum in Paris. However, there are still plenty of local masterpieces from throughout the ages and holidaymakers can visit the Venetian Castle of Milos and the Catacombs of Milos in Tripiti. Explore the many churches between ancient villages not forgetting to visit some interesting museums when you go on shore. The Naval Museum for instance showcases Milos’ long maritime history.
An impressive sight to see are the Caves of Kleftiko made from wind-blown volcanic rocks and white arches that loom out of the waters. Fishing villages line the coast with their blue trimmed terraces and courtyards full of lovely flowers.

There’s the Festival of Milos where artistic, traditional and cultural events take place. This festival starts on the first weekend in July and continues throughout the summer months for a splendid experience of Mediterranean island life.
