Superyacht Photographer Ed Wright

This page celebrates one of the great yacht photographers, Ed Wright

Ed Wright

Ed Wright has travelled all around the world photographing untouched landscapes, uninhabited places as well as the cold, icy Antarctic. He lives in Monaco so is in the perfect place to capture many sailing regattas that are held in the Med. Ed has also taken photographs on board luxury superyachts as well as pictures of the owners and yacht builders. He enjoys putting a different perspective on his projects taking wide angle shots of the exteriors of superyachts or close ups of dining facilities on board some beautiful vessels. Ed’s high-quality photographs have established him in the world of photography as one of the best around.

He went to film school at Bristol University in the 1990s working as a camera assistant. Some of the film sets were Event Horizon, 24:7 and Lost in Space. Ed Wright then worked as a DoP (Director of Photography) shooting lots of short films, documentaries, corporate films and features. He was nominated for the best cinematography for the short film Out of Milk at the Kodak Bafta Short Film Showcase. Wright has said he feels quite comfortable on larger sets as well as having a camera on his shoulder. He can bring expertise and passion to any type of shoot he is involved with.

Ed Wright has a post-graduate diploma in film and TV Bristol University. He speaks several languages including Japanese, Spanish, German and French. He has also completed a BBC Health and Safety Course.

Some of his best and memorable photograph shoots have included luxurious yachts, celebrity parties, weddings, sporting events and photos for some of the top magazines worldwide. He enjoys the challenges and diversity photography brings and helps clients achieve just what they are looking for. Also among his best work are yachting regattas in the USA and Europe, aerial photography, underwater shots, fashion shoots and school graduations. His diversity means he is also very professional when taking still images, videos or virtual tours. From corporate events, conferences, CEO portraits and round tables, Ed Wright certainly brings a touch of professionalism to his photographs.

He is proud to admit some of his high-profile clients have included Procter and Gamble, the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Fairmont Hotel in Monaco and of course many superyachts. Ed has also been exclusively commissioned to take photographs for prestigious magazines like Hello Magazine.

Ed Wright feels comfortable using digital cameras, panoramic imagery, transparencies and medium format. He is au fait with the latest technology too like Photoshop, HDR Imagery, Quick Time and Virtual Tours.
