An icon in yachting, she is one of the truly magnificent luxury yachts created and available for charter. Her outstanding design and construction methods are very innovative and advanced to the extent that she evolved the way many superyacht designers and builders approached luxury yacht creation. The exterior design of the yacht presented a step forward in large yacht design with many award and accolades following her launch.

It was almost as if those responsible for ALFA NERO – the yacht designers, Oceanco and the yacht owner – set aside established luxury motor yacht design concepts and instead began afresh. The result is a balanced and elegant mega yacht which is extremely easy on the eye without compromise to the availability of every conceivable amenity.

Inside, she boasts three separate dining areas, a dance room, a gym as well as pantries on each three guest decks. A lift services and connects all decks. She has pop art inspired interiors with a nautical theme, with details such as side tables resembling stag-horn coral and seashell images in the guest hallway. The elevator shaft is in glass and is wrapped around by an intricate staircase. ALFA NERO is definitely elegant and luxurious. She has a Kaleidescape audio-visual system and a saloon Cinema.

Her dramatic black steel hull reflects the gently lapping waves like a basalt mirror white her light superstructure and large pool offer pleasing contrasts. ALFA NERO is a very large high volume yacht, yet her lines are sleek and graceful. Her roomy aft structure open and frees any bulk in her roomy upper superstructure.

ALFA NERO’s aft deck is perhaps her most idiosyncratic and famous feature. Here the unusually large swimming pool, complete with glass waterfall siding, converts to a heli pad. This is where form and function are harmoniously married. A very innovative aspect to the yacht the area includes settees which flank a skylight window.

Wenge wood panels surround both sky lounge and dining room. Scalloped panels are lacquered in white creating a mother-of-pearl feel, a textured effect reminiscent of abstracted golf balls.

As with many well designed large private yachts, the upper deck lends itself exclusively to the yacht owner’s residence. This area is spacious and beautiful and is appropriately fit for a Roman Emperor, which the yacht is named after.

The Dutch shipbuilder Oceanco and Italian designer Dan Lenard have won immense admiration for this yacht. Alfa Nero has garnered awards in Europe, the US and even Asia for a styling.

In fact, since her launch in 2007, Alfa Nero has already won more than half a dozen prestigious awards. Some of her awards include: the “Best Full Displacement Motoryachts over 75m” award with ShowBoats International, the “Most Innovative Exterior Yacht Design of the Year” award with Asia Pacific Boating, the Yachts International Magazine Award for “Most Innovative Yacht, 2007”, two awards with Boat International for “Best Exterior Design” and “Best Interior Styling”, and received her sixth award at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in the “2007 Best Power Design over 65 meters” category. These awards add to the many other awards won by the OceAnco Yacht over recent years.

Yacht ALFA NERO is available for selected luxury yacht charters so contact us for a reservation or more info.

"When required, the main-deck pool morphs into a helipad. Attention was given to the design of the heli-platform under the weight of a helicopter. By moving the platform up and down using spindles instead of levers or hydraulic cylinders, there is less chance of the platform accidentally lowering due to the weight." - Yacht Build Project Manager Jeroen Mulder

Quotes

“A shipyard sells a yacht and after the warranty period has concluded, often the client and yacht are forgotten. If you look at Oceanco, we see the client as a client for a lifetime. We take care of all of them, even if he has a 25 year old Oceanco.” – Dr Mohammed Al Barwani, Oceanco Chairman, a world-class builder of custom superyachts in the 80–140 meters range: “We pride ourselves in integrating fine old world dutch craftmanship with sophisticated new world know-how and TOMORROW’S TECHNOLOGY. To our craftsmen, PERFECTION is a point of principle. We encourage a philosophy whereby each individual feels personally responsible for the quality of the entire yacht.”

“There’s the pleasure derived from beauty – beautiful things alone can save us. There’s no explicit functionality which can show the way to project design related decision making. What moves everything is passion for beauty. This is the sexiest thing about the boat taken as an object which really makes it very different to houses, paintings, or other forms of art. The chance to put your boat object you have fallen in love with on show for all to see. It’s a near perverted aspect of wanting to share your very own passion with someone else. Boats can be shown off anywhere. And moreover you sleep inside her, you cruise in beautiful places with her and having style you probably enjoy better interiors than you have at home. ” – Dan Lenard from Nuvolari – Lenard, a large, multi-award winning Italian yacht design firm.
