Princess, based in the historic naval port of Plymouth, has been building power yachts since the 1960s. It is not much of an exaggeration to say that the company invented the motor cruiser market in the UK. Seminal designs that broke new ground, years ahead of the competition, are fondly remembered, and indeed can still be seen every weekend in harbours all over the world.

Based in some of the most advanced marine manufacturing facilities in the world, the Princess name has become synonymous with all that is finest in luxury motor yacht design and as part of the Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH) family, has become a brand of distinction around the world.

The strength of the marque lies in its timeless elegance and impeccable build quality, its thoroughbred handling and confidence-inspiring ride. Princess Yachts are known the world over for their sublime interiors and immaculate finish. Every Princess is a perfect balance of style and substance, combining tradition and innovation, creativity and cutting-edge design.

Prometheus Marine recently displayed no less than four Princess yachts at Boat Asia, including the superb Princess 60 yacht and the stunning motor yacht Princess 72.

Princess Yachts has consistently been at the forefront of the international awards scene in the boating industry. The Princess V52 yacht recently won the 2012 Motor Boat of the Year Award in the Sports Cruisers category.

Will Green, Sales Director with Princess Yachts International Plc, said, “We are delighted to welcome Prometheus Marine aboard as part of the Princess family. My recent sojourn with them in Singapore convinced me that Alan Pickering and his highly experienced team of yacht brokers and after-sales staff are the right people to represent us in this important regional market. We look forward to building the Princess brand in Singapore in conjunction with our new partners here.”

Alan Pickering, Managing Director of Prometheus Marine Pte Ltd, said, “We are truly honoured and very excited indeed to have been awarded this highly prestigious, award-winning UK brand which is ideally suited to the needs and tastes of well-heeled Asian yacht buyers. We made an excellent start exposing the brand at both Boat Asia 2012 and the Singapore Yacht Show in April and will continue to elevate the profile of Princess Yachts in this territory as well as regionally, as our remit allows.”

Alan Pickering started Pro-Marine (ProMetheus Marine Pte Ltd) over two decades ago, after extensive boating experience in Europe, the Caribbean, Hong Kong, Japan and South East Asia. His vision was to develop a professional operation to help people with a desire to enhance their family and corporate lives through sailing or cruising. ProMarine genuinely understands the joys and pitfalls of boat ownership and it is this insight that drove Alan to assemble the experienced and international team that is ProMarine today.

Today, that vision still holds true and ProMarine is one of the longest standing and most respected marine businesses in Asia. ProMarine is active in all aspects of boating in the Asia Pacific region and features prominently in regional boat shows and seminars. Offices in Singapore and Malaysia (in Puteri Harbour) are staffed by mature, highly competent marine professionals who bring local knowledge – both legislative and practical – to bear in their dealings with prospective and existing clients.

The 2nd edition, held from April 27 to 29, inspired visitors and exhibitors alike with a fuller and finer line-up of some of the world’s most current and talked-about superyachts and finely crafted boats. Ultra high net worth visitors, exhibitors and yachting industry professionals participated in this year’s showpiece event, where first class contacts were made and significant deals were signed.

The first deal of the show was inked by Simpson Marine when they sold the stunning Azimut 40 yacht to a businessman residing in Singapore. Designed by the renowned Italian yacht builder, the 40ft motor yacht is an integral part of the Azimut flybridge collection, combining Italian design flair with engineering skill. Azimut Yachts is represented by Asia’s leading yacht dealer and broker Simpson Marine, which also carries a wide range of exclusive power and sailing yachts to suit all requirements.

In the final minutes of the show, Simpson Marine clinched a deal on the Azimut 53 yacht, winner of the Boat of the Year award by Power & Motoryacht Magazine 2011. The new 53 gives a feeling of space, with a luxurious full beam master suite with big hull windows that extend to the waterline. The sale was the icing on the cake and a fabulous end to a very successful show for Simpson Marine.

“The response has been great. We had expected a good showing based on the success of last year’s inaugural event, and the reaction from visitors and exhibitors has fully justified our expectations,” said Andy Treadwell, Managing Director of the Singapore Yacht Show. “This further strengthens the show’s position as the foremost yachting industry showcase in the Asia Pacific region, and I am confident that business in this new market will continue to develop rapidly now and fuel growth for the global industry.”

ONE°15 Marina, Sentosa Cove was also abuzz with activity, with more than 30 private parties held on the yachts berthed at the marina during the three-day show. The luxury and exclusiveness of a yacht is making it an increasingly attractive setting for networking events and corporate entertaining, as well as fun times for friends and family.

Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Mr Teo Ser Luck, showed support for the event and the industry by joining guests on a tour of the yachts and other exhibits on the opening day of the show.

This year’s edition featured a first class line-up of the world’s most influential yachting brands, which include Feadship, Sanlorenzo, Palmer Johnson, Westport, Heesen, Azimut, Beneteau, Princess, Cranchi, SportRiva, Mangusta and J–Craft, among others.

The show also saw strong participation from leading yacht brokers such as Burgess, Ocean Independence, Simpson Marine and Northrop & Johnson. Other top exhibitors in the Dockside Village include Sevenstar, Gulf Craft, KOP Group, and Luxury Yachts.

She is designed with four decks (two in each hull), providing expansive private space for both passengers and crew. Their yachts perfectly complement the best selling Lagoon catamarans marketed by our sister company Simpson Marine. Over 150 yachting professionals to attend the 4th Asia-Pacific Superyacht Conference

April 17, 2012

More than 150 yachting professionals from all over the world are expected to attend the 4th Asia-Pacific Superyacht Conference, which is held two days before the Singapore Yacht Show – Asia’s first superyacht-focused boat show. Running at ONE 15 Marina Club from the 25th – 26th April, this year’s conference hosts an international line-up of speakers as well as panellists who will discuss a range of topics and offer key market insight to delegates looking to grow their businesses in Asia-Pacific.

APSC

Fabrizio Scerch from Benetti Yachts will headline day one of the conference by delivering a keynote speech on market entry strategies. Panel discussions will take place throughout the day with representatives from Azimut Grande, Benetti, Feadship Royal Van Lent, Northrop & Johnson, Super Yacht Logistics and HALCYON Group among others. Experts will interact with the audience using a number of presentations and discussions designed to encourage interactive audience participation.

Andy Treadwell, Managing Director of the Singapore Yacht Show, explains: “The Asia Pacific Superyacht Conference is the only forum in this region for superyacht professionals to get together; it’s an essential platform to help further expand the top end of the leisure marine business in Asia. The conference is now in its fourth year and is increasingly important as the superyacht industry turns its eye to the opportunities for their businesses in this buoyant region.”

By co-locating the Asia-Pacific Superyacht Conference alongside the Singapore Yacht Show, Treadwell’s proposition is that industry experts have additional opportunities to network, not just with other marine and yacht experts but the opportunity to meet high net worth visitors attending the Singapore Yacht Show, and get a real feel for the requirements of Asian superyacht buyers and owners in this emerging region.

The industry is in agreement: “The Conference provides a strong platform for some of the biggest names in yachting. It offers a great opportunity for the industry to delve deeper into the Asian market. The region is just beginning to realize its potential as a yachting hub and some of the most influential yachting brands are now focusing their attention on Asia,” said Giordano Pellacani, Asia General Manager of Megayacht Division – Azimut Benetti Group, adding, “This will inevitably spur growth in the region, across all elements of the industry. The outlook for Asia is extremely positive.”

Asia has the potential to become one of the most impressive yachting playgrounds in the world, and interest from the West is made manifest by the increasing numbers of superyachts visiting the region and participating in the Singapore Yacht Show.

Tork Buckley, AssocRINA Senior Consultant and founder of Big Blue Consulting, said, “The growth in the region is promising as more yachts are starting start to find permanent berths in Asia. Visiting yachts too are vital, and as a founder and committee member of APSA (Asia Pacific Superyacht Association), I am delighted by the success of events like this which will help us grow those numbers. Asia is a completely different market from the more established Western ones with their long yachting legacy and developed superyacht industry.”

He added, “However, this region is developing quickly by adapting the regional luxury goods culture and aspirations, so superyacht ownership becomes an integral part of that culture. This Conference provides an ideal forum for regional industry experts to share their wealth of knowledge with global brands looking to make headway in Asia.”

Delegates attending the conference include representatives from all areas of the yachting industry such as superyacht owners, captains, designers and builders, through to marina owners, refit and repair yards, as well as government and regulatory bodies and the tourism industry.

Visitors to the conference will also be invited to attend a host of networking and social events organised by the Singapore Yacht Show including the Singapore Yacht Show Gala Dinner, held at the exclusive Capella Singapore hotel.

APSC2012 will feature a range of key benefits including:
• Key market insight through plenary address presentations
