Research and development took place over several months to create an innovative sailing yacht that incorporates the owner’s wish to have 360° views from the cockpit without the elevation of a flybridge.

MM78 will feature fully automated sailing systems that ensure that a minimal human contact is required with load-bearing sheets and the lifting keel will ensure that guests can approach closer to the shoreline.

Inside, the accommodation layout consists of 5 cabins and provides for a crew of 14. One of the outstanding features of the MM78 design is the Owner’s aft apartment, which comes complete with its own salon and dining area to cover a total area of 150m². The apartment directly accesses the extensive aft swim platform and the folding bulwarks produce a total of 100m² of outdoor lounging space.

“This is a ground-breaking concept and we are delighted to have had the opportunity to develop this design for the client. The design progressed through several evolutionary stages and now, with the final arrangement confirmed, we’re pleased to share news of this project.”

The area can be shaded by a bimini cover for guests looking to spend extended periods of time outdoors.

The interior can be customised by the owner and there is a choice for a home cinema or a bar within the salon while the bow area is dedicated to a formal dining area that seats up to 10 guests. To integrate the cockpit into the main salon, one door slides back and the second lowers into the bulkhead the separates the engine room and the crew quarters, resulting in a free passage way between the two guest areas.

The bow can be turned into a second outdoor space for guests and has a sunbathing area and room for up to 10 guests to dine alfresco, both of which can make use of a bimini top for all-day outdoor living. Alternatively, the bow can be turned into a touch-and-go helipad as offered by the shipyard’s customisation options.

The Owner’s suite consists of 60m² of floor space that can be designed around the Owner’s needs, and there will also be a 14m² VIP cabin is located forward and 2 twin cabins, each with their own en-suite bathrooms.

To ensure guest privacy, the crew quarters are accessed by a crew entryway. The crew quarters provides a salon, a kitchen and 2 twin berth cabins with private bathrooms. To ensure maximum efficiency and safety in running the 100 HT superyacht, the twin 2,600 hp MTU engines (which are recommended but could be changed for a more customised experience) are directly accessed from the crew quarters.

Voluminous interiors are balanced by an exterior design that emphasises outdoor living on the extensive aft decks, and there is a large swimming pool on the main deck aft for guests to enjoy while berthed in city locations and while in transit. When not in use as a helipad, the bow of motor yacht POLLUX can be used for sunbathing or for outdoor exercise.

“Our ambition was a design that drew on the AMELS DNA and heritage, but didn’t simply reproduce existing details,” H2 Yacht Design Director Jonny Horsfield commented. “We have looked forward to the future design direction of the AMELS fleet, whilst maintaining a timeless look that captures the pinnacle of AMELS yacht building.”

The svelte exterior of luxury yacht POLLUX is produced by uninterrupted line that give the decks the appearance of floating bands. Once built, the 4,750 Gross Tonnage superyacht will have 7 decks and is expected to be Passenger Yacht Code compliant.

“Our top team of yacht building experts has long experience collaborating with world-renowned designers and architects,” AMELS Design Manager Hans Konings commented. “We have a deep understanding of shipbuilding and our strong connections with classification societies and flag states. However you imagine your AMELS Full Custom yacht, you can be sure of the most advanced design and engineering with the absolute highest AMELS quality.”

Dominator has announced the creation of a new 38m/125ft flagship, KALLIENTE II, due in 2019. Built for a repeat client, her 28m predecessor KALLIENTE was launched earlier this year, however a change in circumstances for owner Owner Terry Giles presented the opportunity to upgrade to a larger, more customised yacht.

“We loved the Ilumen so much that we realised we want to make yachting a bigger part of our life,” Terry Giles explained. “We are working now on the plans for this special model that Dominator is designing to fit our unique needs, which includes being equipped for US waters.” He has sold his European business and will oversee the reconstruction of his Houston home, which was damaged extensively during Hurricane Harvey, a Category 4 major hurricane which stuck in mid-August.

The 28m/92ft KALLIENTE is currently up for sale and features a modern interior that uses oak and zebrano wood, ebony and back-lit white onyx for a finely crafted finish and is able to sleep 10 guests as well as 3 crew members. Extensive windows and lighting throughout the interiors are a strong and carefully considered design feature, as reflected in the series name ‘Ilumen‘.

Pershing 9x launched and named ‘Najati’

The 28m/92ft Pershing 9x motor yacht was launched shortly before the Cannes Yachting Festival and named ‘NAJATI’.

Designed on the Pershing 92 from which 12 hulls were made, the Pershing 9x provides owners with 4 cabins (1 Master suite, 1 VIP stateroom and 2 twin cabins) for up to 8 guests and a spacious salon layout complete with forward formal dining area. “It’s a huge vessel that looks small,” commented Ferretti Group CEO Alberto Galassi, “and that’s what makes it fantastic.”

Poltrona Frau and Antonio Luppi have furnished the contemporary interior for sporty NAJATI, and the former designer is celebrating a ten-year partnership anniversary with Pershing.

Although the Pershing 9x has retained the wings of the Pershing 92 superstructure, many changes to the design have been implemented: There is a larger cockpit with a generous sunpad to match, and carbon-fibre has been used throughout.

Capable of a top speed of 42 knots and a cruising speed of 38 knots with a range of 380 nautical miles, NAJATI is an ideal island-hopping vessel that will make use of her Twin MTU 16V2000 M96L engines and 9,000 litre fuel capacity.

NAJATI is one of three hulls in the Pershing 9x line that have been built and sold to date, with a fourth hull in the advanced stages of construction.
