The second edition of the biennial Rolex Swan Cup Caribbean will run from 3-7 March and will be hosted by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) from its base in the fantastic Virgin Gorda yacht charter location, nestled in the British Virgin Islands. A fleet of more than twenty Swan yachts will participate in this popular Caribbean regatta.
The Rolex Swan Cup Caribbean provides the opportunity for Swan yachts to compete in another alluring environment and for the crews to enjoy a week of quality competitive sailing within a relaxed, convivial atmosphere.
The fleet will be divided into two classes – Class A (18.29m above) and Class B (18.28m and below). James Madden’s Swan 601 Stark Raving Mad from the United States will defend her 2013 title in Class A, while James Blakemore’s Music (Swan 53) will seek to better her runners-up finish two years ago in Class B. The largest entrants are the 28m (91ft) Swan 90s sailing yacht Odin and charter yacht Solleone; the smallest are the Swan 42s Kora 6 and Migration.
After four days of exhilarating competition on coastal courses ranging from 14-43 nautical miles around the Virgin Island archipelago and its evocatively-named islands, what more fitting reward for the victors than Rolex timepieces and the Rolex Swan Cup Caribbean Trophy, which will be presented at the final prizegiving on Saturday 7 March.
