Four world-renowned superyacht shipyards, Perini Navi, Royal HuismanVitters and Rybovich, have proudly announced that they have become the new Owners of the St. Barths Bucket Regatta as well as the Newport Bucket Regatta.

Bucket-Regattas

What started in 1986 with seven competing yachts in attendance has grown in little over two and a half decades into the most beloved superyacht sailing event in the world. The main reason for their success has been the ability of the organizers to keep the emphasis more upon wholesome fun and camaraderie than pure winning.

With the decision to pass the baton it was essential for the organizers that the ‘Spirit of the Bucket’ should remain that of an ”event for yacht owners, by the Industry”. The most suitable party to take on this admirable task was found in the collective of four industry colleagues that have been devoted supporters of the events for many years.

The core group of loyal and current Bucket sponsors have warmly welcomed the initiative of this partnership, as have those past entrants available for comment. With Peter Craig pledging continued involvement and support as Event Director and Race Chairman both the sponsors’ and the participants’ valued long-term support is secured with the knowledge that the Spirit of the Bucket will live on.

The new owners have issued the following statement: “As the new custodians of the St. Barths and Newport Bucket Regattas, we cannot emphasize enough that our sole objective in taking this initiative is to ensure that the special character of the Bucket is preserved for owners, their guests and crew, now and well into the future. The Buckets will continue to be an opportunity for great racing in great venues, where socialising and networking, rather than sales and marketing, will set the tone for the industry professionals who participate. Furthermore, wherever practical, owners’ aspirations, ideas and concerns will be at the very heart of decision-making regarding any changes to the format, organisation and evolution of the Bucket Regattas over the years to come.”

Peter Craig comments “It has been a pleasure managing these renowned events on behalf of the Bucket Directors these past four years. I am honored that the new stewards of the event have expressed their confidence in my team at Premiere Racing. The Bucket Regattas are in a good place, based on feedback from yacht owners and we are fully committed to the goals and objectives that the new ownership has outlined.”
