Dunya Yachts is excited to announce that their motor yacht Axioma (ex Red Square) has been honoured with the Judges’ Commendation in the Displacement Motor Yacht (1,300 – 1,999GT) category at the recent World Superyacht Awards 2014. The awards ceremony took place at the National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam on Saturday, May 3.

The annual event brings together the most celebrated superyacht builders and designers in the world, to recognise outstanding craftsmanship and visionary design.

The first delivery from superyacht builder Dunya Yachts, superyacht Axioma was nominated in the same category as Delta Marine luxury yacht Invictus, Nobiskrug superyacht Odessa II and Feadship mega yacht Sea Owl.

“We are honoured to receive such a prestigious commendation from the World Superyacht Awards judges,” said Sedat Ergün, Director of Dunya Yachts. “The judging panel is comprised of 18 superyacht owners who have a combined ownership experience extending well into triple figures. To be recognised for quality of build and craftsmanship by such experienced owners is testament to the pedigree we are creating at Dunya Yachts. M/Y Axioma stands out from the global fleet for her groundbreaking features, yet has strong universal appeal for her sophisticated and daring design. We are thrilled to have received such an accolade.”

Dunya Yachts is currently underway with its next project, 82m (269ft) mega yacht Warrior 80, which is available for purchase. From the drawing board of Espen Øino, one of the world’s foremost superyacht designers, the 2,000gt project is just 30 months from completion and offers a superb acquisition opportunity for an owner looking to take delivery of a superyacht of such magnitude in less than three years. The hull is 80 per cent complete, and there is still considerable scope for adaptation to the Warrior 80 yacht’s superstructure and interior design.

ABOUT M/Y AXIOMA (EX RED SQUARE)
72.5M (236ft) displacement yacht (Project DY003)
Launched February 2013
Builder: Dunya Yachts
Exterior Styling: Sterling Scott
Interior Design: Alberto Pinto

Luxury yacht Axioma is Dunya Yachts’ daring debut into the world of superyacht construction. In February 2013, the 72.5m displacement yacht was completed on spec by the yard; she was then sold during the Monaco Yacht Show in September of the same year. A truly global collaboration, the vessel has exterior styling from Sterling Scott and interior design from the late Alberto Pinto (Axioma was his final project to be built while alive).

Axioma superyacht features many revolutionary shifts for the general layout of a vessel of this size. These were made possible by the painstaking attention to detail from the yard’s management team and founder Sedat Ergün. Most striking is the main salon’s double-deck gallery, providing a sense of vast space and light usually reserved for large land-based residences.

For practical purposes, Dunya Yachts brought the gym, spa and steam room up from the lower decks to provide a more inviting environment for guests, and moved the movie theatre to the lower deck. All guest suites have been brought up to the main deck, with expansive windows to showcase the stunning views of the water. Axioma yacht sleeps 12 guests in six suites, including a full beam master suite with panoramic views forward, and she has a crew of 20.

When it came to Axioma yacht’s design, the team chose to spotlight bold style as well as practicality, with an overall design brief of “beach house style”. The vessel’s exterior provides guests with a wide choice of both private and convivial spaces across four decks. Two generous pools, expansive lounging space and dining areas aft are complemented by a secluded lounging and dining area on the bridge deck and a private terrace forward of the master cabin. Albert Pinto’s interior makes use of soft neutrals accented with pops of vibrant colour, which complement a range of natural wood tones and textures.

“We worked with some of the most experienced brains and craftsmen in the business to create a world-class vessel that will continue to be a showcase of what the Dunya Yachts brand can achieve. Axioma is the standard-bearer for our pedigree,” says Ergun of the various suppliers and subcontractor who worked to make her such a stunning vessel, which included:

Awlgrip (Netherlands) – Paint System
C-Quip (NZ) – Forward Light Mast
Caterpillar (USA) – Main Engines and Generators
Cramm (Netherlands) – Hydraulic Moving Parts
Freeman Marine (USA) – Exterior Doors
Heinen & Hopman (Netherlands) – Air Conditioning
Hi-Fog (Finland) – Water Mist System
Lift Emotion (Netherlands) – Elevator
LIST (Austria) – Interior Joinery
Multiplex (Germany) – Sun Awnings
Otto – Piening (Germany) – Propellers
Pacific Coast Marine (USA) – Exterior Doors
Quantum (USA) – Stabilizers
Raytheon (USA) – Navigation Equipment
Roland (Germany) – Main Galley Van Cappellen
Consultancy (Netherlands) – Noise & Vibration Control

Although the experts who consulted and worked on Axioma superyacht were an international mixture, the favourable base labour rate in Turkey meant that she was built for approximately 30 per cent less than comparable shipyards elsewhere in Europe, says Ergün.

Superyacht Axioma was sold at the 2013 Monaco Yacht Show and is now available for luxury yacht charter.
