At the awards, which were held in Florida’s Fort Lauderdale, the 30–metre sailing superyacht Antares III, built by Yachting Developments in Hobsonville in less than 400 days, won the award for the Best Sailing Superyacht in the 24-40 metre category.

The west Auckland yard also won the Best Refit 2012 Award for their comprehensive refurbishment of the classic 1934 America’s Cup J Class charter yacht Endeavour.

The world renowned superyacht yard, Alloy Yachts, which is based in Henderson, won the ISS Award for the Best Sailing Superyacht over 40 metres for their 67.2-metre luxury yacht Vertigo. The ISS Award, Vertigo’s seventh major international award, makes the yacht the most awarded Alloy Yachts’ creation so far. An incredible 19 Alloy Yachts’ vessels have now won international superyacht awards.

The International Superyacht Society Awards are held in conjunction with the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, one of the world’s largest and most important marine exhibitions.

New Zealand marine industry companies have a very high profile at the show, with around 20 local exporters showcasing their New Zealand-built yachts and marine products at the high profile show.

“Our NZ Marine Export Group member companies, with the support of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, are working hard at the show, generating new business and more exports for our country,” says NZ Marine executive director, Peter Busfield. “It is another great example of fiercely competitive companies working together to benefit both the New Zealand marine industry and the country as a whole.”

Continuing the strong export promotion of New Zealand’s innovative marine industry, in November twelve NZ Marine Export Group companies will showcase their latest New Zealand-designed and -manufactured products at METS, the world’s largest marine equipment exhibition, in Amsterdam.
