Galactica Super Nova has proven her pedigree at the 2016 Monaco Yacht Show by winning awards in the Best Exterior Design category and Finest New Superyacht category. Heesen‘s largest yacht to date at 70m, Galactica Super Nova is a paragon of the values behind modern design; combining brightly lit and wide open spaces with striking dark accents, and simplicity and efficiency within functionality.

As the winner of the Best Exterior Design category, Heesen had to design above and beyond its competitors. Naval architect Van Dossanen and exterior designers Espen Øino International have joined natural elements into the structure both inside and out to create a liveable, natural space no matter where guests are aboard.

‘It is no coincidence that many of the best shipyards in the world are found in Holland. Our passion for yacht building and commitment to quality is unrivalled. Heesen yachts are renowned for their innovative engineering and exceptional speed, range, stability and comfort. We build them entirely in-house out of the hardest steel and the strongest aluminium. And that is what makes us the world’s leading builder of high-performance yachts.’

From the beach club up to the sky deck, not a single metre of outdoor space is wasted and this rule is exemplified in the bridge deck’s generous foredeck, which can serve as a touch-and-go helipad, a sun bathing area during the day or an outdoor cinema come nightfall. The 4 x 2.25 metre portable screen is easily mounted onto removable carbon pillars for cutting-edge definition. Coupled with the impressive CAT Marine speakers, guests are treated to an immersive experience surrounded by the luscious backdrop of destinations such as the Mediterranean or the Caribbean.

The 6 metre glass bottom panelled infinity pool acts as the centrepiece on the main deck: The waterfall cascades down from the deck above, catching the light as it falls and turning the main aft deck terrace into the perfect spot for meditation and relaxation day or night.

As the sun sets, special occasions are brought to life through the water-proof sound system and creative LED lighting hidden along the deck and studding the ceiling like stars. Both audio-visula elements can be synchronised with the beach club on the deck below to keep the atmosphere flowing in both spaces.

When superyacht Galactica Super Nova is stationary, the beach club is one of the most desirable locations aboard the whole vessel: body-moulding outdoor seating makes for a comfortable relaxation spot and the glass panels of the swimming pool overhead dapples the area with light to create a charming environment for drinks and conversation. The bridge deck aft terrace has everything a party of 12 would want for alfresco dining.

Reminiscent to a lighthouse, the glass surrounds of the interior sundeck lead out onto the fore and aft decks without any interruption in internal/external flow. The sliding glass doors are little more than a barrier between the elements while enjoying the view of distant islands and cities, and guests will revel in the patter of rainfall during less clement weather as well as nights of open, starry skies.

The interior is just as finely considered: The Main saloon is partitioned into three sections to meet the owners’ utilisation: a conversation zone perfect for morning coffee with friends, a library with inset sofas opposite a built-in fireplace, and a formal dining area. Lacewood and contrasting wengé complete the elegant dining room set for 12 guests.

Galactica Super Nova’s interior layout has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests overnight in 6 cabins, comprising a master suite, 1 VIP stateroom, and 4 double cabins. To ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience, a crew of 16 can be accommodated onboard over 8 cabins.

Luxury yacht Galactica Super Nova is as powerful as she is graceful – a factor which was most certainly taken into account when she won the Finest New Superyacht award. Capable of reaching a top speed of 30 knots, this aluminium displacement yacht is one of the fastest of her class anywhere in the world. Exceptional engineering has resulted in speed, distance of 4,000 miles and economical fuel consumption, adding the benefit of greater environmental friendliness.

Her displacement hull reduces resistance up to 20% and her fixed pitch propellers combined with a Rolls Royce central booster jet make her highly manoeuvrable in all sea conditions. Overall, another award-winning Heesen masterpiece that her owners can take pride in.
