The partnership will ensure that clients of IMG travelling by sea to the northern hemisphere and requiring yacht refit, servicing and repair work while there, will be attended to in a shorter time frame than before. They will be assisted either at the Atollvic shipyard in Spain or on location by a project manager from Atollvic.

IMG clients will also be able to benefit from Atollvic’s expansive dry dock facilities and will have access to all trades and spares required to solve any potential issues with their yachts. A similar arrangement will apply for Atollvic’s clients when travelling to the southern hemisphere.

Atollvic Shipyard was founded in 2006 and is an expert in the construction and refit of custom sail and motor yachts in steel or aluminium, up to 70 meters. A division of Grupo Vicalsa, one of Europe’s leading marine, aviation and military engineering organisations, Atollvic works in conjunction with other companies within the Group to offer clients the technical and logistic support needed to successfully design and build the most complex custom yachts.

Its new partner, Integrated Marine Group was founded in 2003, and provides refit, repair and maintenance, as well as yacht support. Assisting yachts based in New Zealand and across the South Pacific, the company employs a team of approximately 70 highly skilled engineers who have the experience and technical know-how to meet the needs of larger and increasingly complex yachts.

While maintaining the same quality of core services, for which they individually have become renowned, the two companies will both benefit from wider awareness within the global super yacht industry through strategic cross-promotional activities. A further benefit of the cooperation is that they will be working together on new projects, details of which will be revealed throughout 2012.

Alberto Bola, Project Manager for Atollvic Shipyard, said: “We are delighted to announce the partnership with IMG and believe that it will ensure that together we can deliver a first-class service for our customers, whatever the location.”

He continued: “IMG can assure its customers that representatives of Atollvic will be able to respond to any situations within the Mediterranean or elsewhere within the northern hemisphere within ten hours, as opposed to a potential wait of up to 48 hours for a Project Manager from IMG to travel from Auckland, New Zealand. We are of course delighted to also be able to offer Atollvic clients the same assurances while they are travelling in the south.”

30m Sailing Yacht Anegada Cay by Cognit Design and Atollvic Shipyard

November 19, 2010

Atollvic Shipyard, Spain has announced a partnership with Cognit Design, the design and engineering branch of the Totalmar Group, on a new concept, sailing yacht Anegada Cay. Sailing yacht Anegada Cay is an innovative new 30-metre sloop design that will feature a number of technical innovations, maximising speed and performance while retaining a traditional appearance.

This new design marks the first time that Atollvic, an expert in custom sail and motor yachts in steel and aluminium, has collaborated with the Totalmar Group. When commissioned, the sloop will be built by Atollvic at its shipyard in Vigo, Spain.

Sailing yacht Anegada Cay’s structural design has been closely deliberated by Totalmar who were careful to incorporate the interior arrangements and equipment needed by the owner into early designs. This ensured that the design was ‘solid’ and there would be no surprises at a later stage in the design process so it was possible to concentrate throughout on designing a sailing yacht of outstanding performance, lightness and efficiency.

Several technical innovations were employed in order to get the right balance between performance and functionality. Canting keels and retractable propellers, technology usually reserved for racing yachts, have been specified in order to dramatically increase sailing yacht Anegada Cay’s performance. Totalmar have also included a ballast tank system ensuring a reduction in draft, which will allow the vessel to moor up in sheltered anchorages which is a significant benefit to the owner wanting to access cruising places usually only accessible to much smaller boats or catamarans.

The interior of S/Y Anegada Cay will be luxurious and comfortable without being overloaded with unnecessary style elements. Space is maximised by keeping the different living ‘zones’ for resting, eating and sailing –both practical and multi-functional. An interesting multi-purpose stern area can be configured as an exterior saloon, loading dock and water access, or even as an exterior pool.

Totalmar have designed Anegada Cay to be at home moored at the marina, crossing the sea or anchored by a beach. Designer for Totalmar, Alberto Fernandez notes that the 30m sloop Anegada Cay “has been designed with the discerning sailor in mind and, while inspired by tradition, it features modern and innovative solutions. The result is a performance sail yacht capable of high speeds under sail.” “Agility and performance were a structural part of the concept from the start. This is a boat born to sail.”
