DYT´s Super Servant 4 in Brisbane to unload $35 million worth of yachts

January 18, 2012

The city of Brisbane, capital of Queensland and Australia’s third most populous city, will host Dockwise Yacht Transport’s (DYT) 556´ ship Super Servant 4 with open arms this month when this 169.49m electric orange semi-submersible vessel berths at Fisherman’s Island Terminal to unload a cargo of yachts totaling approximately US $35 million.

It has been more than a year since the ship’s last trip here was diverted to Sydney due to extreme flooding that devastated Brisbane and many other Queensland locations. Jason Roberts, President of Aurora Global Logistics and DYT’s exclusive commercial agent for Australia, sees the ship’s return as proof positive of the rebounding yacht manufacturing and boat transport industries as well as the cruising market that Brisbane so well serves in the South Pacific.

Brisbane is in the process of rebuilding,” said Roberts, explaining that when the Brisbane River’s riverbanks broke last January, an overflow level of 4.45 meters (14.6 feet) was reached, and approximately 20,000 houses were flooded.

“At the same time, the Australian economy has survived the global downturn to be quite strong, and this DYT voyage adds momentum to both of those things. We are excited for this voyage as well as many more to come in the future.”

Roberts added that Brisbane’s location halfway between Sydney and the Great Barrier Reef make it a perfect drop point for DYT, which operates on a regular schedule to deliver private yachts and charter boats to prime cruising destinations around the world.

Looking something like a giant moving marina when it comes to town, the Super Servant 4, once docked will submerge itself by pumping nine million gallons of water into its ballast tanks. After scuba divers remove sea-fasteners from each yacht, captains, owners and/or crews will be free to disembark under their own power and be off to new adventures.

Super Servant 4 departed Palma de Mallorca (Spain) in December 2011 and will have made stops in Martinique (France), Port Everglades (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida), and Golfito (Costa Rica) before arriving in Brisbane. From Brisbane, it will head to Auckland (New Zealand) and return to Port Everglades before heading to Toulon (France) in early April.

DYT’s second “float-on/float-off” voyage to the South Pacific this year will begin in Palma de Mallorca in November, with stops in Martinique, Port Everglades, Golfito, Brisbane, and Auckland, and return to Port Everglades and the Mediterranean in spring 2013.

Sailing Yacht Southerly 675 by Dubois Yachts and Northshore

January 17, 2012

Following the success of the Southerly 57RS yacht, Dubois Naval Architects have been commissioned to work in partnership with the Northshore’s design team, to develop a larger sister ship, the 67.50´ sailing yacht Southerly 675. Featuring powerful sailing performance, superior build quality and luxurious accommodation, the Southerly 675 yacht will be available in a choice of interior layouts, including a spacious aft master stateroom and forward crew cabin with separate access.

Sailing Yacht Southerly 675 by Dubois Yachts and Northshore

Dubois Naval Architects have focused their considerable expertise on the creation of a hull and rig which will combine good performance with sea kindliness. The hull is characterised by a long waterline, fine entry and beam carried aft to ensure the highest degree of performance, comfort, stability and safety. The beautiful sleek lines of the raised pilot coachroof exudes sophistication and elegance, normally only seen on much larger yachts.

The serious blue water cruiser, the 67.50´ luxury yacht 675 is primarily designed for easy handling, and can be sailed by just two people. The tall, powerful rig with swept back spreaders and double headsail rig will keep the yacht sailing fast, with minimum effort. The double headsail is suitable for most wind conditions and sailing environments; the self tacking jib allows you to sail easily on short tacks without any effort – ideal for coastal cruising. The overlapping genoa enhances upwind performance in light airs, and together, the double head sail is perfect for down wind trade wind sailing. An asymmetric gennaker, for off wind sailing, can be flown from a hydraulic retractable carbon bowsprit.

Super Yacht Southerly 675

The spacious centre cockpit offers security and protection, whilst allowing guests to enjoy dinette facilities in style. A glass windscreen can provide protection from the elements. The twin wheeled helming position allows the helmsman to enjoy the powerful performance of the yacht, with dedicated areas for sail controls and sailing short handed.

Further seating aft allows for guests to relax in comfort, whilst enjoying all round views.

The hydraulic transom door folds down to become a large bathing platform, discreetly hiding the dinghy stowage space. Garaging for a dinghy is standard. An optional layout with twin double cabins aft can incorporate a garaging option for a Williams Turbojet 325 or 285, complete with a system for easy deployment and recovery of the yacht tender.

Motor yacht Pelican 80 by Yachting Ideas

January 17, 2012

Motor yacht Pelican 80 created by the Italian design studio Yachting Ideas is an 80-foot planning vessel built in composite. Pelican 80 superyacht features sporty lines and an attractive design.

The Yachting Ideas studio tried to find a different way of design detaching from the classical patterns of yacht design. The crucial points that characterize the super yacht Pelican 80 are definitely the new shape of the sheer line and the design of the canopy located above the superstructure.

Pelican 80 Superyacht - Rear view

Pelican 80 Superyacht - Rear view

The aesthetics of the luxury yacht Pelican 80 is extremely dynamic, the shape of the superstructure has a very elegant and sporty profile and helps to make the deck lowered despite the heights. Each element tends to accentuate the dynamic effect of waves reflected from the profile of the yacht, the hull broke with classical schemes to assume an aggressive line: the bow is nearly vertical and has a deep V that allows it to tackle even very rough seas.

Yachting Ideas luxury yacht Pelican 80 - side view

The upper deck is a large living room, equipped with every comfort overlooking the sea. In the center of the living find place the cockpit that is wide as the living room. Furniture and accessories are arranged so that most of the windows is free, giving the idea of being on a terrace overlooking the sea at 360 degrees.

Super Yacht Pelican 80 - front view

The layout of the main deck features a large living area near the rear exit and, raised one step, by a comfortable table in which at least 6 people found space. There are two outputs: one right behind the dashboard on the left and a main aft. This glass door that divides the living and the deck is retractable to give the impression of continuity between inside and outside and to increase the size of the living area.

Luxury motor yacht Pelican 80

At the end of the superstructure there are 2 locations which are respectively one unit for cooking and the other one to maneuver the yacht at the dock. More aft there is an outdoor lounge, equipped with shower and fridge for drinks, with a big table that in some occasion can become a very large sun area. Under this lounge in the aft of the yacht there is a space for the yacht tender garage.

At the bow, there is a large sun deck that can accommodate up to 5 people. The main deck has been raised in order to obtain access for the crew area. The system for the anchor is located on the side so it does not take up room on deck. The privacy that characterizes the lower deck means, however, very few rooms that are spacious and comfortable.

The crew cabin, equipped with toilet and shower, is located in the extreme bow and is in direct contact with the kitchen. Going down in the area guests will find a hallway leading to 3 double cabins: the VIP stateroom forward and two symmetrical in the center of the hull. Each room has a large bathroom and closets as well as TV and radio. The owner’s bedroom is also equipped with a study area.

Discover Philippines and Whale Sharks aboard a luxury charter yacht

January 17, 2012

Philippines, one of the most beautiful places on earth invites you to discover its stunning islands, beautiful beaches and enchanting under water world on board a beautiful charter yacht. Currently there are superb large superyachts available for charter in February and March, which happens to be the Whale Shark season in the Philippines – South East Asia; a perfect opportunity for all those diving aficionados eager to get a glance of the largest fish in the world.

Philippines

Made up of 7,107 islands, this archipelago nation and unique luxury yacht charter destination, Philippines has long been a crossroads of trade routes, with influences from everywhere from China, Japan, Malaysia, Spain, and the US overlaying the native cultures. After decades of political upheaval, the country has only recently started to become a leisure travel destination, meaning that many of its stunning natural sights are practically undeveloped with with very little tourists around.

Discover the Stunning archipelago of the Philippines aboard a charter yacht

Discover the Stunning archipelago of the Philippines aboard a charter yacht

From deserted white-sand beaches to one of the world’s most unique and vibrant coral reefs, from the island where Magellan died to World War II shipwrecks, from fresh seafood everywhere you go to a rapidly-evolved gourmet street food scene in Manila, the Philippines is a country made for exploration by luxury yacht. Dive with barracudas and whale sharks, hold the world’s smallest primate, climb volcanoes, drift along an underground river, and perhaps discover something entirely new amongst these exotic, relaxed islands.

Please, contact our team for more information and a customised itinerary to suite your needs.

Discover Philippines on board a luxury charter yacht:

Manila Bay

Once known as the Pearl of the Orient, the Filipino capital was decimated in World War II, resulting in a somewhat deserved reputation for lawlessness and pollution. Recently, however, the area is on the up-and-up, and the knowledgeable visitor can find things to love in and around this sprawling metropolis. Like in most cosmopolitan cities, popular foods have been refined into art forms — try traditional dishes like balut (fermented duck egg), sisig (twice-cooked and fried pig’s head), and chicken adobo, the national dish. Explore Chinatown in the Binondo area and taste delicious fusion dishes. For a true gourmet Filipino experience, head two hours north to Angeles City to Bale Dutung, where artist-writer-chef Claude Tayag occasionally cooks lunch for those who call in advance. What history does remain includes the Spanish Intramuros fort and the city’s many historic churches, like UNESCO World Heritage Site San Agustin Church. A wide variety of museums encompasses everything from Manila Contemporary to the Ayala Museum to the Mirikina Shoe Museum, which shows off Imelda Marcos’ famous collection.

Palawan Island

Considered the country’s last frontier — a Stone Age tribe was discovered living here as recently as 1978 — this large, western island is paradise for those looking for unique and unspoilt wildlife, vegetation, and natural wonders. Pass through the main town of Puerto Princesa for the delicious local seafood offered on atmospheric Rizal Avenue — try the small, dried dangitt fish that goes with Filipino breakfasts — en route to the more interesting sights inland. Visit the sprawling Tabon Caves, in which some of Southeast Asia’s oldest human remains were found. Head around to the island’s western side to the weird and beautiful St. Paul Subterranean River National Park, a five-mile-long water-filled cave that can only be toured in (strictly limited) outrigger canoes. If you’re in the mood for more traditional island pursuits, spend a day snorkeling and diving amongst Honda Bay’s quiet, coral-fringed islets. At the island’s northern tip, El Nido and the Bacuit Archipelago have long been a destination for in-the-know Filipinos searching out pristine beaches and exotic natural sights like black marble caves and tabletop corals. No superyacht trip to Palawan would be complete, however, without a stint at Tubbataha Reef National Marine Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site twelve hours from Puerto Princesa, considered the best diving in the Philippines.

Palawan Island

Palawan Island

Busuanga Island

If Palawan Island is an unexplored frontier, then this small island just to the north is practically off the map. Few foreigners make it here, but those who do are rewarded not just with undisturbed natural scenery — ideal for hiking, picnicking, island-hopping, and mountain biking — but also with the Maquinit Hot Springs and some seriously impressive shipwreck diving. During World War II, a number of Japanese ships were sunk by American bombers in the relatively shallow waters around Busuanga — some are even visible to snorkelers. Continue your land exploration on the northern tip of the island at “Calauit Island,” home to the unique Calauit Game Preserve and Wildlife Sanctuary, a sprawling area of grasslands and low hills that houses indigenous animals and African wildlife like giraffes, zebras, and gazelles.

Busuanga Island

Busuanga Island

Cuyo Islands

Where most collections of pristine, relatively uninhabited tropical islands have been “discovered” and developed for tourism, the 45-island Cuyo Archipelago has somehow been skipped over, perhaps because of its remote location in the expansive Philippine archipelago. Most of its serene islets are uplifted coral reefs, making it the perfect luxury yacht charter destination for days of uninterrupted island-hopping, diving and snorkeling in the vibrantly blue-green sea, wandering powdery gold- or white-sand beaches, bird-watching, and clambering around hidden caves. One of the few volcanic islands, main Cuyo Island features the archipelago’s only real town — home to an impressive Spanish church fort built in 1680 and still in use today — and is particularly popular destination for windsurfers. Explore the islands yourself to find your favourite beaches (Pandan and Seland Islands are particularly popular), and stop in at Pamalican Island for a luxurious interlude at the world-renowned Amanpulo Resort.

Cuyo Islands

Cuyo Islands

Boracay (The North Side of Panay)

Touted as the next Southeast Asian hot spot, this rapidly developing, five-miles-by-one-mile slip of an island north of Panay still has another few years before it completely turns into Phuket. For now, that kind of bustling tourism is mostly restricted to the western coast’s soft, stunning, and self-descriptive White Beach, where the restaurants and cafes, resorts and spas, bars and clubs, and water sports shacks are spread along three “stations.” Station One is home to luxury resorts like Discovery Shores and Friday’s, the latter of which offers some of the best dining — complete with beachfront sunset views — on the island. In Station Three, celebrate happy hour over beach pig roasts and karaoke. For a local dining experience, venture into the outdoor D’Mall market in search of Jonah’s (super fresh) Fruit Shakes, fresh fish at family-run Smoke, and Lemon Cafe, which doesn’t look like anything special but is considered one of the best restaurants in the Philippines. Get out of White Beach to go in search of quieter coves, luxurious spa treatments at the new Shangri-La Resort & Spa and the award-winning Mandala Spa & Villas, and kite- and wind-surfing on the island’s eastern shores. Don’t miss the world-class diving on the western side, home to numerous shipwreck sites and colourful reefs.

Boracay

Boracay

Bohol

Natural wonders often seem to come in sets, and it’s no different on the island of Bohol. Here, the surreal Chocolate Hills, one of the world’s smallest primates, and a spectacular coral shelf all vie for top billing, making for an impressive stay on this laid-back island. And that’s still before highlights like the 16th and 17th-century Jesuit stone churches, and the July-long Sandugo festival celebrating a 1565 blood compact between the Spanish and the Boholanos. Bizarrely named after the candy they resemble under the brown grasses of summer, the Chocolate Hills consist of at least 1,268 individual conical karst hills covering the centre of the island. Spend a day wandering the park and hiking the hills — each takes less than an hour to scale — before venturing to the Philippine Tarsier and Wildlife Sanctuary, where you can camp and view the tiny, rather adorable tarsier. One of the oldest land species continuously in existence and ostensibly the world’s smallest primate, the tarsier actually inspired the look of Steven Spielberg’s E.T. Dive and snorkel on the aforementioned coral shelf about 45 minutes off of the picturesque and popular Alona Beach, keeping an eye out for clown fish and barracudas as well as the colourful coral. If you’re in the area between March and June, watch for dolphins and whales.

Bohol

Bohol

Cebu

Once the first Spanish settlement in the Philippines, the city of Cebu is now the country’s second largest, a less-polluted alternative to crowded Manila. Its main attractions, however, are primarily historical, including the first cross Magellan planted in 1521 and the first Spanish fort in the Philippines, Fort San Pedro. Nearby Mactan Island, practically part of the city, with its world-class resorts — like the Shangri-La and Plantation Bay — offers a quieter alternative. Float between the islets and picturesque beaches on banca cruises, and enjoy fresh seafood cooked to order at the fishermen’s stalls in the Mactan Shrine area. Get away from the crowds by heading to the southwestern side of the island, to Moalboal and Badian, where you can hike to and swim in the impressive Kawasan Falls, go diving along the reefs, and search out quiet beaches. If you’re looking for somewhere even more secluded, head just north of Cebu Island to tiny Malapascua Island, a surprisingly sleepy, low-key destination for being so close to all this action. No real transportation exists, locals offer moped rides for free, the mangoes are absolutely delicious, and you could spend your whole day between diving, fishing, and wandering the beachfront villages.

Triton 36,000 – The World´s Deepest Diving Multi-Passenger Submersible

January 17, 2012

The world’s most advanced submarine company, Triton Subs in collaboration with high pressure glass fabricator Rayotek Scientific, have created a full ocean depth submersible that will revolutionize man’s relationship with the deep ocean.

Triton 36,000 - The World´s Deepest Diving Multi-Passenger Submersible

Triton 1000/2 Submersible

With a planned descent rate of 500 feet per minute, the deepest spot in the ocean, at 35,800 ft., can be reached in approximately 75 minutes.

The Triton 36,000 Full Ocean Depth Submersible’s pressure hull utilizes Rayotek’s patented manu-facturing process and proprietary technologies to produce a sphere of high-strength specialty glass. Glass has been successfully used in deep submergence for more than 40 years and some spheres have been rated to almost 30,000 ft. (9,000 meters).

The Triton 36,000 Full Ocean Depth Submersible

The Triton 1000/2 Full Ocean Depth Submersible

Rayotek’s proprietary technology is capable of overcoming previous manufacturing limitations and producing perfect spheres of sufficient diameter to accommodate three occupants. By incorporating no metallic  elements or through hull penetrations in the pressure boundary, the design takes advantage of the fact that up to a very high limit, glass becomes stronger with greater compression.

The Triton is designed for both scientific and commercial work, and requires a minimum of support equipment and personnel.

Triton 36,000 by Triton Subs and Rayotek Scientific

Triton 1000/2 by Triton Subs and Rayotek Scientific

All life support is internal to the pressure hull and control and monitoring functions are carried out by wireless fiber optic systems that transmit light through the glass hull as projections on the inside walls controlled with touch-screen functionality. The glass is protected from point impact by internal and external acrylic sheaths.
