Charter Broker’s Expert Opinion: Aboard Luxury 43m Superyacht Blue Vision in Spain

May 15, 2017

Written by Maria Korotaeva

The month of May is a very exciting time, as it is the opening of the yacht charter season in the Mediterranean. It is also a very busy time of the year for our charter specialists at CharterWorld, as luxury superyachts are booking up very fast and invitations to attend familiarisation trips, also known as Fam-trips, are never turned down. This year our charter broker Trina Howes had an opportunity to cruise aboard 43.60m Benetti charter yacht Blue Vision. Incredible charter experience, additional knowledge of the cruising destination, first-class service onboard visiting the best place in the Balearic Islands; below are the highlights of Trina’s trip.

MY BLUE VISION - Main

Trina mentioned: “The menu was varied and I feel we got a really good preview of what Chef John can do, which seems to be everything. Gayle is a vegetarian, and she was also super impressed, and I thought her meals looks really yum.”

The upper deck hosts a large lounge with a dining table, a bar to sip on some aperitifs, and a seating area. Blue Vision’s ample deck space includes lovely areas for sunbathing and leisure. Blue Vision has an extensive selection of water toys, including Seabobs, wave runners, water skis, a banana and fishing equipment.

“The crew on board are literally perfect. I could not fault them on a single thing. The service was impeccable with them being at least three steps ahead of us at all times. They were calm, fun, super professional, very good looking, perceptive and hardworking. The chef was outstanding, and I loved all I ate.” – says Trina.

THE FAM-TRIP ITINERARY

Our broker Trina Howes embarked on Blue Vison in Barcelona, where Chef John prepared fantastic dinner to welcome guests. Barcelona is an excellent place to start a luxury yacht charter vacation, as the vibrant city has so much to offer. A tour around Barcelona is an incredible experience, especially when you include Park Guell, Sagrada Familia, Cathedral de Barcelona, Montjuic and Casa Ballo in your itinerary. You can admire the awe-inspiring views of Catalonia from the top floor of the W Hotel – one of the most luxurious hotels in Barceloneta.

From Barcelona, Blue Vision cruised to the northern part of Ibiza. This part of the island is full of secluded beaches filled with serenity and peacefulness. Ibiza is an extraordinary island, which offers vibrant nightlife and parties, as well as five-star hotels and fine dining restaurants, popular among yacht charterers.

As our charter brokers know, your Spanish charter itinerary would not be perfect without a visit to Formentera. One of the most famous islands in the Balerialic, Formentera is known for its pristine beaches, glittering sea and tranquillity. A day trip to the stunning island was a fantastic idea.

After that, Blue Vision left for another overnight crossing to Palma. “Es Trench” was a lovely place for lunch. Shopping and dining can be found at the beautiful Port Adriano. For water-sports lovers, Blue Vision offers a large variety of water toys to enjoy while in the warm waters of Palma.

Trina mentions that the weather in that part of the Mediterranean could be tricky, which might adjust your charter itinerary accordingly, but there are still plenty of places to visit. When planning a yacht charter holiday for a week or ten days in the area, it is a great idea to visit Mallorca and Ibiza.

MY BLUE VISION - Swim platform

MY BLUE VISION – Swim platform

“Blue Vision is a really pleasant yacht. She has just come out of 18 months in the yard, so it looks brand new. Great layout that flows really well. Its stabilisers are very good. The blue leather couches are very comfortable. Beds are also very comfy, beautiful linens, ample table décor and beautiful flatware.” -Trina Howes, CharterWorld yacht charter specialist.

Interview with the Owner of Sailing Yacht Q: What Makes this Charter Yacht Highly Successful?

May 05, 2017

Written by Maria Korotaeva

The highly popular charter sailing yacht Q was built in 2009 by Alloy Yachts.  Specifically designed for long voyages, Q provides total comfort and luxury to her charter guests and boasts incredible interior design by bespoke Reymond Langdon.  With lavish accommodation for ten guests and a variety of opulent amenities, Q has become one of the most admired charter yachts. What makes her so successful in the charter market, Roxanne Hughes found out in the interview with the owner of sailing yacht Q, Kim Vibe-Petersen.

Interview with Kim Vibe-Petersen, the Owner of the 52m Charter Sailing Yacht Q

Written by Roxanne Hughes of Breed Media

When Vibe-Petersen presented his latest purchase, the 51.7m sailing yacht Q, to the charter market, his intention was to inspire people: “People see me aboard with my family and how we’ve put our soul into this yacht and they say ‘Ah, I would love to do the same with my family’. We have become an advert for how the yacht should be used.”

Having completed a full interior refit, giving this 2009-launched Dubois design a new lease of life with Scandinavian style, Q has been quickly booked up and this summer is now back-to-back with charters.

“Myself and the family haven’t had much chance to use her yet! But we have a week or two planned – we may go to New York later this Spring, then on to Bermuda to watch the America’s Cup, but after that she’s straight into the charter season. When my last boat, Parsifal III, was launched, we had bookings for her a year in advance and with Q it’s basically the same, that’s seldom seen these days.”

Vibe-Petersen describes Q as the ultimate holiday home or summer house, highlighting her adaptability between blue water cruiser, regatta racer, luxurious home and even nightclub – recently illustrated at the St Barths Bucket where many guests partied the night away on the yacht’s large flybridge during the event’s ‘Yacht- Hop’ evening.

Q is an award-winning sailing superyacht that can accommodate up to 12 guests in five luxurious en-suite staterooms. Q’s spacious cockpit can be opened to the sunshine and breeze or protected from the elements with a fully retractable window system that encloses the area at the touch of a button, whilst retaining 360-degree views.

“It’s the joy of superyacht charter; if you don’t like the scenery today, you can make it different in half an hour – just move the boat to another anchorage. Move from St Barths to New York – go and see the Statue of Liberty, sail around Martha’s Vineyard, or go to New Zealand! Be wherever you want to go. Go around the world and take Q with you – she’s the optimal summer house.” – Kim Vibe-Petersen, Owner of 51.7m Q.

Balearics gain in popularity as the number of super yachts for charter grows

May 02, 2017

Written by Rachael Steele

In the final quarter of 2013, Spain modified the Special Tax on Particular Means of Transport (IEDMT) to make exempt from tax all yachts exclusively for charter, and the result has been substantial.

Without any limits placed upon charter yacht length, the popularity for luxury charters in and around Spain has grown considerably year on year since 2013 – from only 31 yachts above 20m available in the Balearic Islands in 2013 to 125 in 2016 – quadruple the number of yachts for charter over a three year period.

The change in rules allows for yachts owned by a non-resident company to charter exempt from tax, as long as the persons chartering the yacht are non-residents of Spain and do not own an establishment in the country. These new rules are closer to the legislation used in other EU member state countries such as Italy and France, which receive the vast majority of the 600 or so 25m+ yachts for charter in the Western Mediterranean every summer.

AQUIJO – The quintessential contemporary sailing experience

Thoroughly modern in appearance and her on board entertainment, luxury sailing yacht AQUIJO is one of the most unique recent additions to the Western Mediterranean charter market. The inspired beach club contains a sauna and steam room as well as a sitting area, plus a hot tub for soaking in style with a different awe-inspiring view every day.
