With the winter behind us and the first signs of Spring popping up everywhere, most of us are starting to think about the summer vacations. To ensure you are presented with a good selection of the best superyachts available on the market this year, you shouldn’t hesitate too much. Charter boats are booking up early, and this trend has been going on for a few years now. Charterers are now thinking ahead, wanting to ensure that they will holiday aboard the best boat with the best crew and a fantastic range of amenities – just the way they have imagined it. The smart way to charter this year, is to get in early to ensure you don’t miss out on a great opportunity. Many superyachts are even offering Mediterranean ‘early bird’ specials if booked well in advance or offer off-season Caribbean and Bahamas getaways.

THE DESTINATIONS

The Western and the Eastern Mediterranean remain the top places to cruise however, the Caribbean is also a fabulous choice, especially for American clients wanting to stay close to home, with many yachts remaining in the area following the busy winter season.

Aboard M/Y Bina: Insights into the World of Luxury Yacht Charters

February 28, 2017

Written by Maria Korotaeva

The Caribbean, also known as the creme-de-la-creme of the yachting destinations, features a plethora of fantastic beaches, high-class resorts and restaurants. If this region is still on your list of “must-visit” then you will be interested to find out how your usual day aboard the 42-metre luxury motor yacht Bina in Anguilla would look like.

If you’re heading to the Caribbean on charter, Anguilla is an island not to be overlooked. This quiet idyll offers luxury in its simplest form, get back to basics with sandy beaches and an all-round slower pace of life.

Anguilla can boast 33 beaches and an additional outcrop known as ‘Sandy Island’ just 2000 metres from its shore. Following breakfast at anchor in the bay, taking in the sights and sounds of the little fishing harbour, this sandy mirage was my destination for a snorkel and a barefoot wander in the sand. What I wasn’t expecting to find, was a tiki shack bar serving cold beers and local rum amongst the palm trees. These treasured local finds are in abundance here, if somehow you’re not looking for them.

Stepping ashore the main island at an area called Sandy Ground, there was only one location on my list – the newly opened Four Seasons Resort. Formerly a Viceroy property on this British Overseas Territory, it now offers a spa, 181 villas and resort accommodations, and four ocean-view restaurants.

Four Seasons Anguilla

If sports are more your thing, leave the superyacht and lace your trainers for a visit to the 18-hole CuisinArt Golf Resort (a Greg Norman Signature design) or the Anguilla Tennis Academy, designed by noted architect Myron Goldfinger, down at Blowing Point. There’s also a horse stable on the island offering beach trails in private groups.

Sophisticated and fresh cuisine, served in casually elegant open-air settings, has always been a favourite of mine and in Anguilla, there’s plenty of establishments that fit the brief, when you’ve worked up an appetite, there are over 100 restaurants serving up the best of the local seafood catch.

To end your day, I suggest taking in a different vista. There are several secluded anchorages for superyachts around the island, try Crocus, Rendezvous or Shoal Bay – great spots to watch the evening sun sink into the sea.

Luxury Yacht Charter Experience in Details: aboard M/Y Bina in St Maarten and St Barths

February 14, 2017

Written by Maria Korotaeva

People around the world adore and admire superyachts, especially when it comes to unforgettable yacht charter experience. Have you ever wondered how a perfect day on a luxury superyacht would look like? We bring you all the insights into the world of luxury yachting aboard CHARTER YACHT BINA in St Maarten and St Barths, one of the most luxurious destinations in the Caribbean. Get inspired!

Stepping aboard 43m Bina in St Maarten, I’m handed a cold glass of Champagne and settled into the comfortable aft deck sofas while my bags are unpacked in my cabin. It’s Saturday afternoon and we’re soon to depart for St Barths where we’ll catch the sunset and enjoy our first meal onboard. What’s immediately noticeable is the inviting comfort of this boat; each exterior space offers relaxed lounge seating, and the saloons feel homely with cushions, blankets and artistic decor.

BINA - Main deck aft view

BINA – Main deck aft view

Bina’s Captain certainly knows all the tricks, dropping the anchor in the bay of Gustavia in perfect timing for us to watch the clouds turn pink over the island and the sun to blaze the horizon a fiery orange.

Having freshened up in my ensuite cabin, with a beautifully appointed bathroom that surpasses many of the finest hotels, we sat for dinner al fresco on the upper aft deck. This spot was a key part of the extensive refit work, repositioning the tender from this area to forward on the bow, thus creating space for a 12-seat dining table and sofa arrangement.

Five courses of dinner later, with the culinary skills of Bina’s Chef truly showcased and enjoyed – including a pasta parmesan prepared at the table for us in the parmesan wheel itself, and a chocolate sphere which melted away under a hot chocolate sauce to reveal the treats inside, we retired to the saloon for drinks before bed.

Bina Twin Cabin. Photo by Jeff Brown

Bina Twin Cabin. Photo by Jeff Brown

My cabin was the guest twin. Bina can sleep up to 12 guests in her three full-beam doubles and two twins (all ensuite). The clever design offered more wardrobe and storage space than my home bedroom, and the lighting, air con & window blinds were easily controlled at the touch of a button.

Whilst we slept, the boat was repositioned to Shell Beach, a bay around the other side of Gustavia port. Waking up in new surroundings is one of the great pleasures yacht charter offers. I rose early, unable to bear missing out on a single minute of sunshine and luxury, and sure enough, there’s the smiling crew ready to greet me – coffee poured and a breakfast buffet ready to go.

BINA - Water toys

BINA – Water Toys. Photo by Breed Media

Anchored here, close to the beach, the yacht’s ‘toys’ were unpacked – an inflatable slide, jet ski, stand-up paddle boards and Flyboard jetpack were all laid out for our enjoyment. Bina has a ladder that extends down from her swim platform, enabling for easy access to and from the water, and enjoying these water toys under the watchful eye of the crew, I was confident our group’s fun antics were safely overseen.

Having worked up an appetite, we were tendered ashore for lunch – to a restaurant right there on the beach, ‘Shellona’. This casual St Barths bistro has an air of effortless chic; feet in the sand, lobster on your plate, rose in your glass and a view of your superyacht is hard to beat.

Shellona, Shell Beach, St Barths. Photo credit Roxanne Hughes

While ashore, we made the most of St Barths’ array of stores, which encompass everything from Chanel to beachwear boutiques. It’s a spot popular with celebrities, models and the jet-set, but the streets here feel paved with an understated glamour, as opposed to glittering gold. You never know who may be stood next to you at the counter in Lolita Jaca (one of my favourite stores), but an understated nod that you both know the secrets of St Barths is all that’s called for.

Bina had now been brought into Gustavia harbour and was on the dock awaiting our return. Berthed alongside several other superyachts, Bina stood out for her aesthetic proportions and tasteful, easy styling.

Bina Sky lounge. Photo by Jeff Brown

We took to the top deck – Bina’s ‘sky lounge’ to take in the view from the Jacuzzi with a late afternoon cocktail in hand. Pleased with our sun-kissed skin and laughing over those falls from the Flyboard jetpack and excitement earlier in the day, we can only conclude that yacht charter aboard Bina offers all the finest things in life; great food, good company, and a front-row seat to the sunset of your choosing.
