Wally has used the occasion of the Cannes Yachting Festival 2019 to announce its latest project, the 30.8m luxury sailing yacht WALLY 101 which represents the first new project since the shipyard joined the Ferretti Group at the start of the year.

30.8m Luxury sailing yacht WALLY 101

The sloop is currently in the final stages of the design process and once completed will feature naval architecture by Judel / Vrolijk and exterior styling created in collaboration with Pininfarina. This latest semi-custom hull will be the first Wally yacht to be installed with the Wally Magic keel© which provides a few advantages, such as improved performance paired with a new generation hull shape that makes use of a powerful sail plan and carbon composite construction.

A flexible platform allows for the deck and interior layout to be adapted to the requirements of different Owners. The contemporary appearance is matched by cutting-edge technology and construction knowledge to create a sleek profile while the innovative design solutions provide interior and exterior deck space comparable to a 40m/131ft vessel.

Interior

While most high-performance sailing yachts are usually limited in terms of layout, the WALLY 101 is able to provide the main salon and a variety of accommodation and additional room options to meet Owner requirements:

  • 3 cabins with 3 living zones
  • 4 cabins with 2 living zones, or
  • 5 spacious cabins for more guests or additional crew.

The living zones could be used as an additional lounge, media room, office, children’s playroom or gym.

The crew also receive comfortable large accommodation and living areas, comprised of a pair of en-suite double cabins, a crew mess, laundry, galley and a dedicated navigation area. Elsewhere on the lower deck, the tender garage has room for storing a 4m/13ft tender as well as additional water toys.

Exterior

A low-profile deck house is created using a characteristic funnel-shaped glass roof that makes for an inviting social area when combined with the teak decking that seamlessly joins with the foredeck.

Outside, the cockpit is protected by a practical dodger and awning has been designed for extensive use by potential Owners, who can personalise with a choice of sunbathing, seating and table options. The combined cockpit and sunbathing area along the stern provides 58.4m2/628.6ft2 of space. This is a noticeable increase on the last generation of 30m/100ft luxury yachts, where the combined cockpit and sunbathing areas was only 34.5m2/317ft2. The WALLY 101 is the first in its category to offer half-metre high bulwarks for safety while cruising and racing.

The Wally Magic Keel© allows for up to 2m/6.6ft difference in the hull to adapt to the conditions to navigate shallow waterways and offer improved performance while racing. While sailing upwind on a 75-degree tack in 12 knots, the WALLY 101 is capable of 12 knots, while heading downwind she can power through the water at 20 knots or more.

Wally founder Luca Bassani said of the latest luxury sloop:

“Following the original spirit of Wally, the 101 is a yacht offering tremendous comfort inside and outside combined with swift performance while being simple and easy to sail.”
