AK YACHT have launched their long-awaited 85m explorer yacht, VICTORIOUS. After first arriving at their yard in Turkey in 2016, the yacht has not yet undergone her sea trials or finishing touches, but to have her out on the water is an exciting step – one that has been 14 years in the making!
VICTORIOUS has had an interesting past, with multiple stops and starts throughout her lifetime. Construction began back in 2006, until her original shipyard ran into financial difficulties. She was then sold and spent two years under construction in New Zealand, until work was halted yet again. Finally, in 2016, the project was taken on by her current owner, after which she was transferred to the AK YACHT yard in Turkey. Construction has been ongoing over the last five years, and she is finally nearing completion.
Several changes and upgrades have been made since her original design, with interior courtesy of British firm, H2 Yacht Design. Jonny Horsfield, founder of H2 Yacht Design commented: “From starting a project to delivering some drawings and information to the shipyard could be 12 months on a normal build… we had to redesign the whole boat in three or four months.”
Some of the major changes from the original design include an extension of the vessel by 6 metres, which has allowed for the construction of an indoor swimming pool, as well as a new bowspirit. With her expansive 2,300GT interior, she also features a myriad of other excellent amenities, such a 200m2 beach club with indoor gym, massage room and hammam. She will be available to charter, with accommodation for 20 guests over 11 luxurious cabins. She is set to be completed this spring, with her maiden season in the beautiful Mediterranean. Keep an eye out for further information and photos to be released over the next few months!
