Growing superyacht traffic in the lovely Italian yacht charter destination – the Gulf of Trieste, together with fostering local economy re-launch, that is the mission of Trieste Yacht Berths (TYB). This represents an umbrella group, comprising Marina San Giusto, Porto San Rocco, as well as Trieste Terminal Passeggeri (TTP), which is to be developed through a series of measures to draw the attention of captains, ship owners and shipping agents, thereby creating an appealing berth alternative to the to-date more popular Eastern Adriatic and Venice.

TYB

“I believe Trieste is ready to be at the forefront of the luxury yacht sailing sector,” has started off TTP CEO Franco Napp, “owing both to its remarkable historical, cultural and landscape charm and to the excellent vessel services provided by highly specialized companies. TYB’s innovation lies in three historical adversaries joining forces to create critical mass and carry out a co-marketing strategy to shine a spotlight on our province starting from docking fee leveling and a joint partaking in the Monaco Yacht Show, next September, 25-28th.”

“Figures,” followed Porto San Rocco Director Roberto Sponza, “tells us that the world super-yacht fleet amounted to 4,695 units in 2012 and is bound to hit 7,000 by 2032, about half of which sailing across the Mediterranean. Working at attracting an ever-increasing number of over-40-meter yachts does not just mean advantaging dock dealers but also companies in the sector: remember that a yacht square meter expense may hit 1 million Euros and maintenance cost per year adds up to 7% of its overall value.”

“Trieste Yacht Berths,” concluded Marina San Giusto President Paolo Zelco, “thanks to the three founders’ diversity, offers tailor-made berths: from Molo Pescheria (100 meter long) and Molo Bersaglieri (220 meter long) – for those wishing to dock in the heart of the city, to Porto San Rocco (60 meter long), the ideal location for full-comfort service lovers in one of the Gulf’s most peaceful spots. I am therefore persuaded that overcoming contrasting opinions to offer expertise, facilities and services is a useful, in fact necessary step to be taken to get into the market more effectively. TYB is not a flash in the pan; on the contrary, it aims at becoming a permanent platform for medium/long-term strategy planning.”
