The Grand Pavois International In-water Boat Show will be held from the 15th to the 20th of September 2010 at the Port des Minimes in La Rochelle. 850 exhibitors are expected on 100,000 m² of exhibition. 300 boats will be exhibited afloat over 700 presentations at the show. Spaces for all the visitors and Tahiti and her Islands as the guest of honour of the 38th edition. Benchmark for pleasure sailing fans, the Grand Pavois offers a unique opportunity to try the boats at sea before purchasing. The Grand Pavois is one of the top 5 international boat show afloat.

Guest of Honour Country 2010 at the Grand Pavois: Tahiti and her islands! Each year the Grand Pavois welcomes a Guest of Honour that presents its local and marine industry, craft arts, culture… In 2010, Tahiti and her islands is our guest. Consisting of 5 archipelagos over a total of 118 islands, French Polynesia offers its visitors a great range of discoveries and activities. Tahiti and her islands is ready to welcome the 100 000 visitors to the Grand Pavois from the 15th to the 20th September!

1,000 m² will be dedicated to Tahiti and her islands. It will be possible to have all the necessary information to explore this unique destination. One needs to know that tourism is an important industry that provides direct and indirect jobs and is the first source of incomes for Tahiti and her Islands. Few figures: 42,1% of the tourists are European, 31,9% come from North America, 10,8% from Asia, 10,9% from Pacific lands and 3,3% from Latin America. The tourists usually stay for 13,2 days – 23,7 days for the French tourists. The visitors will have the opportunity to meet the Tourist Board, the tour operators and specialist tour operators (fishing, diving…), arts and craft professionals (pearls, tattoos…), food professionals and marine business professionals (marinas…). Green Tourism has grown and combines both “green and blue” based on Polynesian unique flora and fauna!

Many activities with many prizes to win

From Wednesday the 15th to Monday the 20th September, visitors will appreciate rituals and traditions of Polynesia, made of dances and music, tattoos and fragrances of monoï oil…There will be many prizes to win at the show and by listening to our partner radio France Bleu: packs of Bora Bora sand monoï oil, sarongs, vouchers for tattoos, books to learn Tahitian and prepare your next trip, traditional pirogues practice…

A typical restaurant… Do not miss the magic of the flavours of Polynesian gastronomy with fruits, raw fish marinated in lemon juice and coconut milk, vanilla, and «ma’a tinito», a mixture of pork, kidney beans, Chinese cabbage and macaroni. The restaurant will be located in the hall.

In La Rochelle…
Some events will be held in the town centre of La Rochelle, on Friday the 17th in the afternoon (Place de Verdun), and Saturday the 19th in the morning (Place du Marché). Local residents and tourists will enjoy a glimpse of traditional dances and music.
