A new tool for the marine industry was released at the recent Marina Industries Association of Australia (MIAA) Marinas 2011 conference in Melbourne.  The book is the first of its kind to promote sustainability principles specifically to developers, owners and stakeholders of marina developments.  The book was launched by Alistair Murray, CEO of Ronstan, Victoria’s Exporter of the Year, and Chairman of the Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX).

Alistair Murray during his presentation at the launch noted the best practices he has experienced in Australian marinas and noted that Australian companies can serve as role models to the global industry.  The new book provides opportunities for sustainability to be woven into the early planning stages of marina projects. Shoreline protection is a central feature of the book with sustainable development examples providing a mix of economic, social, environmental and destination outcomes.

Mr Murray commended the book to the industry, and assured readers of useful content to assist in marina projects.

The book will retail for AUD$49.95.
