One of the most eye-catching vessels to attend the race will be the majestic 55m sailing yacht Marie, built by Vitters Shipyard to a design by Hoek. This beautiful black ketch attended the race for the first time in 2011, placing third overall. Since then, Marie has participated in plenty of the superyacht events in Mediterranean, Caribbean and the USA.  In 2012/13, she enjoyed cruising in the Pacific and New Zealand. Subsequently she sailed back to Europe via the Caribbean to re-attend this year’s Superyacht Cup Palma.

One of the Superyacht Cup Palma sponsors, Claasen Shipyard, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The shipyard has constructed plenty of the present and past regular Superyacht Cup participants, including the 2011 winner sailing yacht Drumfire, 2nd in her class 2012 superyacht Firefly, as well as the 2013 winner, luxury yacht Heartbeat.
