The imposing 142,81m (468’5’’) Sailing Yacht A by Nobiskrug, previously reported as ‘White Pearl’ or hull 787, is believed to have undergone her first sea trials. This news comes following her final, third mast being fitted over the weekend. Delivered by Magma Structures to a design by Dykstra Naval Architects in June, the masts of Mega Sailing Yacht A are said to be the tallest free-standing masts built from composite and carbon fibre, each weighing about 50 tonnes.

Sailing superyacht A features an avant garde styling by Philippe Starck, just like Motor Yacht A, designed for the same Owner. During her sea trials, she is expected to confirm a cruising speed of 16 knots. Considered a sail-assisted motor yacht, she cruises on diesel-electric propulsion.

Once completed, Yacht ‘A’ will represent the world’s largest sailing yacht, with a gross tonnage exceeding 12,000. Further details about this striking and eye-catching yacht are expected to be unveiled as she nears completion.
