Over the past 18 months, Marina Project’s has worked with Porto Montenegro to assess the market in detail and develop designs that will see the marina expand through the construction of new jetties and pontoons, increasing berth numbers from 250 to 470. Once Phase 2 is complete, the marina will have the capacity to berth a significant number of the world’s largest superyachts, with 136 berths over 30m on modern, purpose built jetties.

Porto Montenegro will also incorporate one of the most advanced fuel berths in the world, capable of fuelling vessels over 100m alongside and dispensing fuel at a rate of 1000 litres per minute. These combined features will further cement Porto Montenegro’s enviable position in the market.

Tony Browne CMM, Marina Director, commented, “Marina Projects continue to play a vital role in the development of Porto Montenegro.  They enable us to push the boundaries and take advantage of the technologies available. We strive to be the marina of choice for yachts of all sizes and classes and therefore need to be a leading force in our industry. Marina Projects help us achieve that objective.”

Working alongside engineers and architects, Marina Projects has worked with Adriatic Marinas since inception in 2007, advising on all aspects from initial concept and design through to the year-long Phase 2 tender process. This period was concluded in January 2013 with the appointment of Montenegrin construction firm Yu Briv d.o.o. and Marina Projects’ David Holifield, has since been engaged by Adriatic Marinas to project manage the build. His presence will enable a seamless transition through Phase 2 as he draws on his detailed knowledge of the earlier tender stages and design process.  The completion of works is planned for spring 2014.

Marina Projects’ Director Geoff Phillips, commented, “Porto Montenegro is an exciting development for all involved and we are very pleased to have a successful long-standing relationship with Adriatic Marinas and the Porto Montenegro team. This project has provided the perfect opportunity for our team of experts to combine their experience and knowledge in order to produce one of the best marinas in the world.”
