The Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta and Rendezvous will be once again hosted by the fabulous Caribbean yacht charter destination – Virgin Gorda from March 19 to 22, 2014. This popular event on the international racing calendar draws attention of some of the best superyachts in the world and participants annually represent an eclectic mix of vessels, comprising sail and motor yachts, built to both performance as well as cruising specifications.
Boat International Media are delighted to announce an impressive list of registered competitors who are keen to take to the azure blue seas of the region for three days of thrilling superyacht racing. The event, organized in conjunction with the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS), will host a mixture of captivating racing and social events for superyacht owners along with their family, friends and crew to enjoy.
Sailing yachts that have already registered for 2014 include new launches 197ft mega yacht Seahawk from Perini Navi, 108ft sailing yacht Inoui and 150ft charter yacht Ganesha, both by Vitters, as well as first time participant 130ft Wally superyacht Angel’s Share. Meanwhile, an impressive list returning competitors include Fitzroy Yachts’ 123ft superyacht Moonbird, 188ft luxury yacht Twizzle by Royal Huisman, Yachting Developments’ 121ft charter yacht Bliss, 147ft sailing yacht Visione from Baltic Yachts and Oyster Yachts 100ft superyacht Sarafin. The regatta takes place set against the island’s spectacular backdrop whilst the region allows competitors to capitalize on an abundance of warm Caribbean trade winds. These idyllic surroundings present opportunity for motor yachts joining the Rendezvous to relax and enjoy the action on the water. Whilst sailing remains at the heart of the regatta, the Rendezvous is renowned for providing guests with an exquisite array of social events that distinguish Loro Piana regattas on the international circuit. Post racing festivities include a Welcome Cocktail on the YCCS lawn, the Loro Piana Owners’ Dinner at the YCCS Clubhouse, and an extravagant beach party hosted by Oil Nut Bay. Nestled on a private peninsula at the eastern tip of the island, the Oil Nut Bay Beach Party will feature live music and fun filled dancing under the stars in a laid-back Caribbean atmosphere.
With a strong intake of early registrations, yacht owners who wish to participate in the event should register without delay to secure their place in the fleet and their berth at YCCS Marina.
